Talon...

Is Talon at Dorney Park as good as it looks? Its almost a Vekoma SLC, BTR mix. I was wondering because im going to my aunts house up in PA, and I hope to go this summer.

Thanks Jeff D

Vekoma SLC? Where did you get that?
You might want to check your dealer man. Seems he slipped a little something extra in your stash this week!! Talon Rocks!

Thanks,

No. Talon is terrible. It actually has air. It's too smooth. The inversions give a little bit of hangtime, which is so boring. I much prefer the rough, ear reddening, head banging, SLC's. How dare you make a comparison between the two!

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Actually, I did experience headbanging on Talon, in the helixes at the end. Those earpads are just as unforgiving as an SLC, due to the grooves.
I think they were just describing the layout similarities between some parts of Talon and an SLC -- not the ride experience. I mean, I guess they both have immelmans and helices and whatnot.

Talon is awesome. I really enjoyed the rides I had on it opening year.

Talon good. Me like Talon.
^ sing it brother!
While I enjoyed Talon and thought it an excellent example of its gerne, I think that there are quite a few inverts out there that are better (including its big bad green brother @ CP)

I don't think anyone was asking [or questioning] just how good Talon is compared to other inverts, but I agree it better than some and not as good as others. Personally, I prefer the smaller and more intense Batman clones to Talon. In fact the taller B&M has made an inverted the less I like it. Alpengeist was a forceless bore to me.

I want Talon to be better than Raptor. If I wasn't such a fanboy, it might be.

I added that because the very nature of the question, is it is good as it looks, implies that the person has been on inverts and knows what good ones look like and wants to know if this good looking invert is as good as it looks. Just wanted to clairfy why I did that moosh :).

Im bizzare in my invert likings, I like both small and big but not the middle range so much for whatever reason (except Raptor). I am also bizzare in that I find the best ride on smaller inverts to be the back and larger ones to be the front, but I go off track again.

BM Inverts as a whole are excellent, the worst of them qualify as good coasters regardless.

Talon is actually my favorite invert. I think it has just the right mix of intensity, inversions, a little bit of tunneling, and the ultra rare for an invert pops of air. Fire is the only other invert that I feel comes close.

I'm the same way. I love BTR which packs a lot of intensity for being so tiny. Top Gun at PGA is about the same height and is also very intense. I also loved Alpenqeist when I was at BGW couple of years ago and I look forward to riding Montu.

As for Talon, yes there is a pop of airtime, but it still felt like the tamest Inverted Coaster. I actually prefer the other Inverted Coaster in Pennsivania.

i personally thought that Talon was a good ride. It was smooth and silent. I like rides that make lots of noise but Talon is a really good ride!

I've had a few fanboys (and girls) tell me off the record that they preferred Talon to Raptor. It's like an "in the closet" thing for CP fans.

Talon is my favorite B&M Invert.

And I have to agree with Moosh (even though I think I've said it in other threads) - in general, the bigger the B&M inverted coaster, the more boring it gets.

If I had the choice of Talon, Raptor, or Montu, I'd take Montu, so bigger Inverts aren't ALWAYS more boring, although I agree with Moosh's comment about Alpengeist being a forceless bore.

But we are talking just about Talon. It's a great ride, definately one of the best inverts out there, has the only airtime I've ever experienced on an invert, and has one of the best helixes on a coaster IMO..

Talon is my least favorite B&M Invert, which took me by surprise because I prefer the smaller more intense ones like Nemesis and Batman; I found Talon forceless.

While the larger ones do tend to be less intense, Alpengeist's Cobra Roll in the back is pretty intense, as is Montu's Batwing.

If Talon had Raptor's helix at the end then I would agree with others that Talon was supperior but Raptors ending just blows away the compition.
