Sympathies Please! Australia's coaster collection

What an accomplishment! ;)
I'll take that as a compliment. Thanks! You only need to read my signature below to see why I'm passionate about improving Aussie's coaster collection!

Coasters - Man's finest creation or is it God's?
Brought to you by Australia's No. 1 Coaster Fan.
Hey you have to start somewhere. The Great American Scream Machine at Six Flags over Georgia was the tallest wooden roller coaster in the world when it was built. A huge 105 ft. with a 90 ft. Drop. But that lead to bigger and better things. Also I think some coaster in southern Brazil has knocked off the Bush Beast. Oh well.

Save Idora Park
Hey, don't worry man, your not alone, I live in Sydney too and i know how you feel! I feel the exact same. Sometimes I feel like donating money to Wonderland towards a new attraction, lol! What are they thinking leaving us out in the cold for 7 years since the opeing of Space Probe!!! And Space Probe wasn't even a coaster! Atleast Gold Coast parks get new attractions every 2nd year even if it's a flume or kiddie coaster like Wild Wild West and Road Runner atleast it's something unlike WONDERLAND!!! You know whats funny, I was reading your info about all the coasters you've ridden and i have ridden all the same except for the Busch Gardens ones. We must have done the same trip!!
Hey OZDude, I work at Wonderland, and I'm just as fustrated as you!!!!!!!!!!! We were to get a new attraction this year, but it has been delayed for a year. It has been remoured the major upgrade planned for 2002/2003 will include a brade new major thrill ride. We were going to build a new rollercoaster with nine loops, but we have changed our minds. The major new attraction is still secret, but we have been promised by the CEO it will be the higest, or fastest etc in the Southern Hemisphere, and it will be a unique ride to Australia. In addition it has been leaked that a space themed land centering on Space Probe, will be created which will include additional flat rides. An indoor rollercoaster is also being looked at. Wonderland is currently selling of surplus land, to build a bussiness park. This money will provide capital for future park rides and attractions. Part of this selloff is suppose to include the builing a "ski-dome", an indoor continous downhill ski slope. This sellof has already been delayed, thus the delay in attractions.
I like you look forward to future attractions in Australia!
Paramount Park was to open this year in Melbourne which was to include a movie studio and six roller coasters, but this development fell through.
Well Australia has one record, although not really an amusement ride, too some it's just as scary. The Scenic Railway (not the Melbourne Luna Park one) in the Blue Mountains is the steepest passenger railway in the world having an incline of over 52 degrees in places. It was originally used to pull coal from the valley floor up the side of a cliff to the top. It first travels up the side of the vally then through a cave and tunnel to achieve this. Today it takes tourists, bushwalkers etc and is the most used tourist attraction in Australai with over a million visitors a years travelling on the train. Check it out at http://www.scenicworld.com.au/
Thanks AussieOp, that news sounds really cool, at least I have something to look forward to now! Hey did anyone notice that at this years Royal Easter Show, the new generation 'double ranger' was there. I thought it was rather cool but I never got to ride it.
The Inverted Double Ranger is called 'Hangover' (Don't ride it while intoxicated! ;)) and I think the product name is 'Double Inverter.' It's way better than the DR, absolutely nothing in front of you and it's like riding through a Floorless Loop over and over.

The Scenic Railway is great fun. I wish the owners would build a coaster that goes over the cliff right down to the valley floor! I can dream can't I?

I was looking forward to the Melbourne Paramount Park. It would have had clones of Volcano, Stealth & Top Gun. Bummer! On the other hand, we'd rather have these coasters at WL! :)

The Hangover sounds cool, I really wanted to ride it but I only discovered it was there on the last day. (I worked in the 'Hell West and Crooked Stunt Show') I saw it from a distance and thought it was just another double ranger and when I realised, it was too late, I had things to do. Anyways, hope it's there next year!
