Support Americana

By order of Mamoosh:

In the year 2002 all coaster geeks/enthusiasts (or whatever you happen to call yourself) will make no less than one mandatory excurison to Americana, or suffer the consequences.

The consequences: Mamoosh will personaly see to it that your panties are, indeed, "in a twist." :)

Americana is going to be a definite stop. But why doesn't Coney Island in Cincy ever get any attention, is it just because they don't have a wood? They are King's Island in a sense.

2002:

Cedar Point

Conneaut Lake

Lakemont

Coney Island Cincinnati

Americana

Camden Park

:)

Chuck,

I just added Stricker's Grove to the meeting calender for July 4th. Also Jeff, the webmaster, is allowing non-members that aren't in the club to post on the calender. I did post a date for Americana on opening day which is May 25, 2002. I will post another for the park on July 5th. See you guys at the park!!

Thanks Bill, Can't make May 25th but if they are open that friday night I will be there, I am also going to be at GRAMaLL on June 2nd after SRM as I am going to hit IB on my vacation.

Chuck, who like many other local coaster buffs are ecstatic Americana is reopening, Like Moosh said, I should have visited more before.

Americana (Now called The great americana amusement park at Lesourdsville Lake) is opening in 2002. Indivdual visits are very improtant to the parks survival.

I actually visited Coney last year for the first time in a couple years since a company picnic. The park is nice but you are right in a sence, It has no MAJOR attraction.

Chuck, who will visit coney but says, Rebuild the Shooting Star!

I'm actually planning on visiting Cincy's Coney Island on my SRM trip since I missed it last year. They may not have a major attraction but hey...a credit is a credit!

Yeah Moosh, it is a nice park, some rides sit along lake Como and there is a variety, Take a look at the PTC built Moonlite Gardens while your there, Stroll down to the old river entrance and imagine 6-10 people shuttling people from downtown and also look at the flood level board.

They also have a pavillion that has pictures of the old park with Wildcat and Shooting Star.

Rides include a Flying Bobs, Pepsi Python, Tilt, Electric Rainbow, Americanas old Trabant, Bumper cars, Bumper boats on Lake Como, Ferris Wheel and that one they bought for americana, Can't think of darn name right now but it's different.

Isn't Pepsi Python a Galaxi?

I think a steel framed CCI (to stay standing in floods) should be a requirement :)

Southern Ohio's parks all seem so perfect :)

It's simular to a Galixie but don't have a big drop, It also has constrictive cars with highbacks, Not a bad ride, Not great either.

Chris: Augh! I don't wear panties! Do Underoos count? :)

BigKirby said: "Southern Ohio's parks all seem so perfect".....yes in a way they have a unique personality. Stricker's is literally stepping into someone's backyard. Americana instantly takes you back to the 40's. Coney is special since it has had so many near-misses with death, and it is amazing to see the flood level marker, knowing that Kings Island exists because of all that damage.
