Superman Ride Of Steel #1 Coaster On The Planet?

I never ride MF but I can tell that Superman is better by just looking at the layout of MF.

SFNE's Superman's the best! check out my new photo in my info page.

I have to give the edge to MF. I like Superman a lot, but the first drop and speed of MF is a lot more fun for me. I might even like the Darien Lake Superman as well as New England's Superman. In the end, they are all fun and that is all that really matters.

It's such a close decision, and after riding MF I thought "no way will S:ROS be better" but the layout is just so incredible. The sheer speed of MF makes the ride and the hills to and from the island are great, but the helix and tunnel on S:ROS help make for a really great layout that is just good enough to beat MF. They are definetly #1and 2 for me though, with Raging Bull a distant 3rd
MF scared the crap out of me, thats why I like it better than S:RoS. Not way better, but better. I even like Steel Force better than S:RoS, but that's just me.

Boy am I lucky. I'm going at opening hour this Wensday.

What's a Wensday? Does it come after Fryday or Munday? ;)

Is anyone else alarmed by this statement? This is the kind of statement that makes absolutely no sense. Unless you have ridden it, no matter the layout, how can you know that it's not better? By your logic a ride like Shivering Timbers would lose to a layout of Son of Beast. The Layout isn't the only think that makes the ride.

This is the kind of person that wouldn't change their mind after they rode a better ride just as an act of ignorance.

That type of statement approaches coaster snobbery....

Think they'll let me drive the Zamboni machine?

Agreed, CPGenius. I was ready to scroll down here and make similar comments myself, then I saw your reply. Thanks for doing the dirty work.

Not really alarmed by it, it actually make me chuckle. Sadly there are many people with this type of thinking. Similar thoughts:

"This coaster isn't good because it's not tall"

"B&M is the best" ;)

I've done MF in 2000 and I'll do it again at the end of this month (on a Munday ;) ) - I'll get my first visit to SFNE in early August. I can't wait to compare and contrast. With so much debate over which is the tops, I can't wait to form my own opinion by riding both. I usually have weird tastes in coasters (I still argue that Kraken is one of the best out there) so this should be fun.

Having ridden both, I have to say I like Superman slightly better than MF. Its just so much fun from beginning to end. Not sure what the ride time is from top of hill to end, but it seems much longer.

I still love MF. A very, very close number 2.

definately #1! :)

Sorry about the past quote of mine, I agree with CPgenius about the layout stuff, i have to ride MF first to see which is better, but I still think that Superman is better.

Just rode Superman:Ride of Steel seven times today and I can tell you why. One thing I had to add in is that S:ROS at SFNE gave loads more airtime than MForce, just in the first half of the ride are four big airtime hills. The drop of Millenium Force can't be beaten by S:ROS, but after the first drop, S:ROS has the advantage the whole time. I just couldn't get enough of the three mist tunnels/ramps on Supee. That's one thing that set S:ROS above SD2K and MForce in my book, no tin tunnels, just red lazer lights and missssssssssssssssssst!!! While riding Millenium Force, I loved the speed, but you feel as if the ride could have used that speed better. S:ROS is packed with multiple key elements, and loads of head choppers and crossovers.

Lake Compounce-So Fresh and So Clean Clean

I've ridden both and if they could combine both coasters (MF Lift and Drop and SROS's air time) it would be the ultimate ride.

But I have to say SROS gets my vote for #1.

the seating on the train isnt anything unique, its the same exact thing as the seating on MF.

Actually, that's not true. The front seats on S:ROS are closer together and the back are further apart, allowing an even better view. Millennium Force's are directly behind each other.

The one thing that I can't stand about S:RoS:
It's running 7 of 9 cars on 1 train! :P

But I do think it edges out MF. MF's drop is insanity, but S:RoS delivers from start to finish.

(not that that stopped me from getting 13 laps in today).

-------------
AC?, RB?, MF?, DD?, PR? Who can keep track of it all?

ApolloAndy- You sure about that? I was there last weekend and all 9 cars on Blue were running (except for that breakdown that occured).

Vertigo- The kids in Mass. are still going in school, but a lot of Connecticut kids get out that week. Plan for SOME crowds with that note, but as you said, since MA kdis wont be out, it wont be bad

I will be goin on Friday at 10:00 after my last final exam. at school. I plan on doin the same as Vertigo since everyone else will still be in there.

Also, I havent ridden MF so Im not goin to make any unfair judgments.

Make it to SFNE for S:Ros and BDK!!!!

I'm going this Monday (yay!) and I went last year two times, it blew me away. I wasn't expecting it to come anywhere near where it did. IF any coaster does beat it out, it must be completely and utterly crazy. MF, looks great, but I dunno, no tunnels, no real helixes, I dunno, it doesn't seem very well put together. First drop looks amazing, woulda been crazy cool into a tunnel.

Wait, what? Only 7 cars? As of when?

Why ride rough coasters when you can ride smooth ones?

He's complaining that Superman only 7 cars when it could run 9 like on MF.

Even if you think that Superman is better than the force still doesnt mean that its number one. Superman isnt my type of coaster. Id rather see X or Raptor get #1. Of course its just my opinion. Its all in opinion some people like flyers, some people like inverts, some hyper or gigas, all matter of preference.

Did you ride Millennium Force? Last time I rode Millennium Force(yesterday) it had two tunnels.

This is getting kinda silly. Opinions on rollercoasters are subjective, but it's clear at least to me that the majority of enthusiasts who have ridden both prefer Superman over MF. Big deal... They are both Intamin hypers so that should tell you right there that is doesn't matter, they are both excellent. It's starting to seem like some of you are only interested in this thread to see how your homepark comes out. Give it a rest already.
