Superman at SFMM

Well, either reroute the track straight back to the station after the floater hill or reprofile the second half to give it 297% more air. Also, a few trees in that area would be nice. ;)

Westcoaster is reporting that Superman is now open.

mOOSH

It is open. It was supposed to open on Saturday(today) but they opened it at around 2pm on Thursday. I went on it Thursday. They haven't changed the restraints. They just added an electrical feature to let the panel know if the harnesses are down enough or not. It wont dispatch unless ALL the harnesses are down to a certain point. But, I went on it, and the color or the car is different. Also, it broke down a couple of times, but nothing major. It actually broke down when I was on it(we went behind the curtain and bounced back) But, its up and running. 1 less SBNO for Magic.

The "new" Superman restraints just have the indicator on the lapbar like Xcelerator. No other changes that I know of.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, look at the little silver thing on the lapbar in this photo.

There is no silver indicator...Nothing was done to the restraints at all.

Short story...it's been shut down for some time, due to maintenance issues. It is expected to be shut down the rest of the year. The State of California is also involved, due to the Intamin restraint issues. There are shadowy rumors about the structure itself being suspect and not certified by the State (similar to the rumors about the Sky Tower) but that has not been confirmed anywhere in any way, shape or form (translation: Six Flags, don't sue me).

Don't expect to ride it before 2005, or possibly never again.

Haha, Jokes on you...

Is S:UE that much better than WT, SV, or V2? Also, is it really worth the trip to SFMM if you are in LA?

I was wrong about the restraints, sorry. Guess my source isn't as reliable as I once thought.

coasterMNguy, STE is nothing like the impulses in my opinion, and isn't an amazing coaster by any means. Pretty much, you don't go to SFMM for Superman.

When was the last time RR ran multiple trains? I love Six Flags, but one train on a coaster capable of running three is pathetic, especially in a park as busy as Magic Mountain. It would be excusable in the off-season, but not in the dead of summer.

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

does the lack of multiple train operation have something to do with using very minimal crews for these rides...

sfmm is known for using the bare minimum amount of ops for rides...hence the use of the "secondary" control panels on the outside of the booth for most large rides.

...and such

Perhaps you failed to notice that I already admitted I was wrong in this thread? ****ing tool.

Mike Miller - The CPG: The ORIGINAL flash mob

Don't worry, baSS, I was shocked when they suddenly re-opened it as well. I didn't expect an opening all year myself. Now if only they could get FlashBack up before I go to Cali next year...
Flashback, unlike Superman, is not popular at all, or a destination attraction. They pretty much have no reason to run Flashback, so they don't. It saves them money AND hurt guest. ;)
Oh, I agree totally, but I wish they'd get it up and running so I could try it just once if I get out that way next year:).

Actually, I'd just be happier if they get the park in good shape before I visit next year so that I don't have to beg mooSH to take me;).

This makes me so happy as I just booked my flight for Thanksgiving weekend. The kids are going to be excited that they actually get to ride it. Now if Flashback would open I'll be happy as a pig in poop. I want to ride it no matter how bad it is. I liked it as Z-Force but of course I was 15 and dumb as a box of rocks.

The Golden Rule - Try it once and if you don't like you don't have to go on again!

You wont ever see Superman run both sides ever again. Its impossible to do it anymore. Why is something that just cant be posted on here:) No, its not cause it takes to much power, no because it costs to much, and no, its not for from short of staff.

So when did you become the GM of SFMM?

People who know don't talk, people who talk don't know...

You tend to learn a few things when you become a ride op at SFMM.
Learning how to run a ride and learning priveledged information thru "ride op rumors" are 2 totally different things...
None of anything that you learn is a rumor. Its all true. Ride ops learn it from Supervisors and mechanics. Ride ops pass it down. But, 99% of the time, you learn it through a Supervisor.

People who know don't talk, yet, people who talk don't know...hmm...Interesting concept you got there. I give you credit for it:)

Unfortunatley, some parks, or rather I think all parks having something called an NDA. And well, you can't violate that.

Oh. My. Goodness.

Dude, you just totally contradict yourself in that first sentence.

You speak of a Non Disclosure Agreement. If you work for the park and you come on here and disclose that "Something else is wrong with SUperman", even if you don't say what it is, you are still disclosing priveledged info.
