S:UE's at Cedar Point!?! (MSNBC's Mistake)

Exactly, the mistake was funny. S:UE at Cedar Point Cleveland. LOL. I was like, "Huh? Did I hear that correctly?"

The show started off with the major steel coasters, like MF, Raptor, Goliath, Steel Dragon in Japan, Hypersonic, Mantis, Magnum, coaster at Silver Dollar, and a few others. They talked about whether we've reached the limits on height. The first dude said we have. Duh? No we haven't, we want to go higher.
They spent a good 10 minutes showing Hypersonic with Stan Checkits describing how the ride works.

In the middle of the show they talked about ride saftey. But they did admit that most accidents happen at those little traveling carnivals. A girl was throw from a Hymilia ride. They did admit that riding a coaster is safer than riding in a car. They talked about state inspectors, and how they need more to check those rides.

They showed the guy who is breaking the record on The Boss and what it takes to ride for 100 days.

Next they went on to the coaster simulators at Disney Quest. They talked about building your own coaster. The dude said it was better than the real thing because you can do whatever you want. Dude, get real. I've been on those simulators, that spin in a circle and upside. Big Deal, they're nothing, wow, you go upside while looking at a tv screen.

A pretty good show, footage of many rides, and none of that "Let's go on the ride with this person and watch them scream" junk. Alot of cut shots, I wish they would show the entire ride, but that's life. They had this one section where they interviewed this dude while cutting to the coaster. They could have showed the entire coaster ride with his voice over it. I hate it when they show a coaster, cut to an interview with some guy talking bs, then cut back to the ride. Whatever.

Notice the coasters they had on there to start the show. Did they talk about adventure rides? NO. They talked about Hyper, and Giga coasters, in fact, that was the opening line of the show. They started off with MF and Steel Dragon. What does that tell you?

We want GIGA coasters.
The GIGA coaster rules.

The X footage was hot!! And they were showing off Hypersonic like its the best thing since sliced bread.

The problem that I had with the show was a question that the anchor posed just after detailing several accidents. I asked, "Is it any coincidence that accidents have gone up as rides have become more intense?" (or words to that effect) He seemed to be implying that it wasn't a coincidence. Yet none of the accidents involved new rides...and not all were coasters.

Also, they mentioned that accidents have increased 30% over the past decade. They didn't mention the similar rise in ridership.

Grrrrr!

Nice footage of rides though.

Forget about it. It can't be THAT bad!
OH also dont forget they said Knott's Berry Farm was in Anaheim not Buena Park like it is in reality. Also they called Perilous Plunge a roller coaster.

"ok everyone go ahead and pull down on your shoulder restraint so you feel nice and stuck!"

The show was pretty bad, but I thought the mechanic from Florida that they interviewed at the end of the program about ride saftey, provided some common sense.
You would think that a big News Corp. like MSNBC would double check something like that...

LOL. don't you mean S:UE them?
The fact that they can screw up something that easy shows you how little they researched their topic. If they messed that up, what else could they have done that could be classified as missleading at least. They called the Himalaya a roller coaster. They only talked about one roller coaster accident that caused fatalities, and as mentioned earlier that was probably due to either the riders being idiots or maybe the ride-ops let on kids who were too short to ride. Other than that they showed a coaster stuck upside down in a loop and a valleyed boomerang for a split second. Big deal.

I like that part were that grizzly looking dude was saying if it looks like a piece of junk, it probably is so don't ride it. Personally I don't spend too much time at carnivals and I don't trust their rides or their operators. Ride at your own risk.

Has anyone ever done that "Nothin but Net" ride they showed. That looks rediculous. For anyone who didn't see it, imagine a bungy type situation where you're at the top of a tower. Then you are let go and fall into a net. No cables, bungy cords, nothing. You just fall into a huge net about 100 feet below. At least they have a patented harness to protect your spine and make you fall in the correct position. But Oh my God did that look insane.
hahaha! when i heard him say that i started laughing. That was a fairly good show though. The only bad part was the whole
thing about them thinking that the newer coasters are getting too extreme. What they didn't say though was all the coasters that had accidents on them that they mentioned are all older coasters.

"who needs drugs when you have coasters...they're like a natural high"
yeah when he said that i asked my mom did he just say that Superman was at Cedar Point. and all the rides with accidents are at CARNIVALS and not amusement parks. heres what i think the percent of rides accidents. 25% are from bad carnival inspections. 25% are from ride malfunction or ride op not payin attention. 50% possibly more because of ride stupidity. they try to stand up and the thing with the water slide accident. thats quite stupid they tried to put like 40 kids on one water slide and have them all go down at once. its not gonna happen too much weight. major *** DUH!
That show was not very impressive. It might be worthwhile to note that Knotts Berry Farm is NOT in Anaheim. S:UE at CP. Perilous Plunge a coaster? This kind of shows the credibility of the show as a whole... I'm much more looking forward to the upcoming shows on the Travel Channel!

"Clear, Dispatch"
They have no excuse for that many mistakes. It's NBC, not UPN or Fox...

wait a second! Are not they the horrible network who brought us the XFL? Never mind. They are on the level of UPN and Fox quality.
