Stupid RCT3 STUPID STUPID STUPID

Aww poo. ;) I misread his post. I thought he was speaking of the bare minimum for XP itself. I don't even own RCT3, nor could my computer even handle it.

I've often wondered from time to time, how to write good poetry- and make it all... Work.

what, Bill, you thought you were being summoned?? ;) ;)

Of course I did, someone repeatedly SHOUTING my name....couldn't let it be *in vain*...;)

LOL, back to the regular boards for me, haven't played RCT in quite a while (maybe 3-4 years)...just wasn't challenging enough in terms of "objectives"...I still think a competitive game where I could take over, say, SFMM and try to run all the other parks out of the SoCal market, THAT would be fun (and *quite* challenging)...novices of course could pick KBF to start with, experts get USH...;)

I ran with minimum requirements, lol, a little bit above. It is possible but umm...it just can't utilize recourses like it should.

Sara, I'm running an Anthlon XP 1600 cpu with 512 MB memory and a Sapphire radeon 9200 se card. I was using the ATI drivers and a friend told me to download the Omega drivers and I had an incease of 30 frames where I was only getting 3 frames. I want more memory and a faster cpu though. I also am running on an Asus A7n8X-E deluxe board.

My Beautiful wife, Julia, is the best thing that has ever happened to me!

how fast is the Athalon XP 1600? seems quite low...

I've never heard this much talk about processors until this game came out. RCT1 and 2 seemed to work on EVERY computer.
That's because RCT1 & RCT2 had simple isometric 2-D graphics not this 3-D stuff but what's strange about it is that while 3-D coaster games such as NL or hyper rails run fine on a P-2 processor while RCT3 has such insanly high system requirements.

Thenb again HR & NL don't have additional graphics such as peeps & other rides all animated at once to worry about which explains why the system requirements for those games were much more reasonable for the average player.

Anthlon XP1600= s l o w and old. I'm upgrading at tax time and I can't wait.

My Beautiful wife, Julia, is the best thing that has ever happened to me!

Is that what W's refunds are going towards?

Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid.
:-P

Athlon 900 (that's right.. good ol' NON-XP Athlon!) and mine runs..

..sometimes :)

Although, ironically, I never had a "real" problem with RCT3 on this PC aside from the lagging when I get a lot of rides/peeps. (The demo was a different story)

Forget Athalon, I just bought a AMD Sempron 2800+ and it runs at 2.0 Ghz and it runs any game just fine! I was running on a 1800 AMD Duron which was old enough alone, lol!
DC: A sempron (in socket A at least) *is* an Athlon XP for all intents and purposes. Actually, if you can still find any, the XP is a better value (especially the mobile variety). Heck, even when it comes to socket 754 it makes more sense to spend the extra 5 - 10 bucks and get a Athlon 64 with slightly superior performance and better "futureproofing" with the ability to run 64-bit code (wherever *that* comes out ;)). But we've had this convo before.....:)
I have a cheap eMachine with Intel 4 from Walmart. I upgraded the machine with a simple video card from Walmart. Increased the RAM from 512 to 1 Gbyte with a cheap memory stick from Office Depot.

Game works fine. I enjoy every bit of it. I cant seam to upgrade with the patch ,yet. Have to get rid of that copyright sign as the folder name; but ,I see no need to. I downloaded all the Prima extra stuff, still no crash, no freeze ups. It does get a little jerky when the parks get over 2000 peeps. They do start doing strange things like walking through each other.

I've used the money/park trainer, still no problems.

Its not as enjoyable to me (now) as RCT 1 (was) the first day I bought in 1999; but, its worth the money for something different and the ride is so cool especially at night.

2hostyl , they have differant mulitmedia handling capabilities, other than that, yea they are quite similiar. Won't argue though, we did that once already.
I have a compaq Presario. I have 512 MB RAM and a 64mb Hercules Prophet AGP video card. I am running at 700 MHZ.

I keep getting an error that my video card or driver needs upgrading. I thought I could run RCT3 with the 64MB on the video card. Any suggestions?

Update your video card driver.

Even if it works - that card with a 700mhz CPU is going to give absolute minimal performance. Probably more frustrating than not being able to play at all.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know a good site to download an updated driver? Does it have to bespecific for the Hercules Prophet, or is there a generic driver that may work?

I don't know anything about that card.

I'd look for a driver from the manufacturer first and foremost.

Thanks
You guys are complaining about the game not running on minimum specifications, yet you don't meet the minimums. The box clearly says "ATI Radeon or GeForce 2 or higher required." Well, those with built in motherboard video don't meet those specs, do you?

BTW...running on an AthlonXP 1700+, 512MB, Radeon 9600 Pro and it's smooth as silk. I'm excited though...my A64 3000+ motherboard comes this week...I'll be running it at about 3800+ speeds with 1GB RAM....
