STUPID ENTHUSIASTS!
Sorry, had to get that out of my system.

Coaster M and M
Ride On!
Also agreed!
Many times in line for a coaster I have heard others in line making comments about that same coaster that obviously were not true... and I just kind of laughed to myself and minded my own business.
What I found annoying was when I was in line for Apollo's Chariot at BGW and, when my wife asked "how tall is this" and I said "a little over 200ft", and the person in front of me turned and said "Actually, it is 208ft. (or 210 or what ever he said)."
Another case: Someone in one of these threads stating how you should not trust RCDB because it had a certain coaster listed as going 56 mph (I forget the exact number) when it acutally goes 58 mph.
Another case: two kids in line for sooperdooperlooper during Springtime in the Park at Hershey. They were discussing why all the coasters were only running 1 train. One said "Because of the Rain", one said "Because of the small crowd." The man stainding in the gate in front of them found it his duty to give an lengthy disertation on how the breaking systems of a coaster works and how wet tracks can affect this, and then proceded to "name drop" certain coasters and certain parks that he is "some what familar" with.
I am certainly glad that I am on of the "Stupid GP" (after all, I didn't give precise measurements for Apollo's Chariot when I informed my wife that it is "a little over 200ft"), and I would ceratinly rather be in line with "stupid GP" anyday over some "enthusiasts" who have become self apointed experts and "educators of the truth".

He let the contents of the bottle do the thinking; can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding.
I've had many of the same experiences this week. After telling some people at school that I had gone to Cedar Point over the weekend. They asked, "so did you ride the new Twisted Sister?" I corrected them saying that I did indeed ride it.
Then later on in the day, I was telling someone else, when they started insisting that it was exact copy of S:UE. Even after trying to calmly explain what the differences were, they still continued to insist it was an exact copy.

There is no force like Millennium Force!
You wanna hear stupid GP? How about that guy that jumped down into the sand pit of the rear spike of "Twisted Sister." To get his hat...
Luckily for him the ride was just loading or else we would have a new Urban Legend at CP. I have never seen a ride op and security take someone out like they did when they got him out of the pit...
Now that's stupid!

It's just as annoying to me to hear enthusiasts spouting facts, especially when you know they are doing it just a little too loudly so everyone will hear.

Agreed - and that goes for enthusiasts of any sort. You don't know the meaning of fear until you've had someone in full Klingon battle dress give you a 10 minute demonstration of his command of the Klingon language and customs.
The most amusing thing I've heard was a debate over whether Mr. Freeze and the Space Shuttle launch with the same amount of G's. I guess NASA can save some bucks by doing training out at Six Flags.

To me Coasters are about the Thrill... Not about knowing all the minute facts. Don't get me wrong... I love the facts, but the knowledge does not make the thrill. The ride itself does.

Nu uh. Its
"Never get in an arguement with an idiot because he/she might be doing the same thing."
Haha. Anyways, I once noticed an Acer at SFWoA and I was talking to hims with my friend. He had a friend also and I swear that guy was so annoying. The first guy would say how many time he had been on a roller coaster there and the friend would correct him by saying how many time they actually did. The second guy also said how he memorized the stat board in the station of BKF and kept repeating it to us until we got on the ride. WoOoOoo that was the worst ride of the day.

And now to be that annoying geek who nitpicks:
It's "...open your mouth and remove all doubt."
That quote is also commonly credited to Socrates, Voltaire, and Benjamin Franklin. Wish I had a site where I could trace the lineage of common quotes like that.
