Striped Background

I don't think I am the only one that thinks this but the background has some definite naseau issues.

More then 10 minutes and I can't look at the page anymore, but heck maybe thats by design ;)

Regardless I would really like an option to get rid of it as I simply can't tolerate it without getting ill. I feel as if I just got of a gravitron. I really wish it was just black.

I love the rest of the redesign a lot but with that background it literally makes me ill. For 20 dollars a year I can buy a lot of alcohol to make me puke ;)

Some people may not be affected but I am extremely susceptible to motion sickness and the like which obviously makes all the difference here.

What you're describing is a rather normal experience for someone with motion sickness. A monitor transmits a more or less moving image, the frames aren't completely identicle. This isn't visible to the human eye. You can only see this by filming you monitor, and looking at the film. So in fact the scanlines are moving about, so it is quite possible you get ill from them.

I personally love scanlines, so I wouldn't like to see them leave. Perhaps you could try and adjust the refresh-rate or frequency of your monitor?

I have big problems with motion sickness, but the lines don't seem to be bothering me.

Where are the lines? I am running on the "ocean" backround and I don't see them.

Brent: Not sure what to tell you, because I kind of like them. Might I suggest, if you're viewing full screen, scaling your browser window down a bit. I never use browser windows full screen (or really anything other than Visual Studio) because content is scaled down to about 750 on nearly every site I visit. Ditto for apps like Word.

Thanks for the suggestions, I tried making the window smaller and it seems to help.

Not perfect but I can deal with it as I agree it is good eye candy.

The lines really bother my eyes too. I hate to be a complainer, but I would kill for a solid black (or other color) background. Apparently I'm not the only one. There was discussion about this over in the general discussion forum too.

edit: I downsized the window and that helps, but I still get eyeball pains when switching pages and the screen goes to all background! I hope I don't get brain damage! ;)

Peabody,

Isn't that implying that your brain isn't already damaged? ;)

Yes, it's a finer texture now.

The smaller lines are much much freindlier on my eyes. Thanks Jeff
