Stricker's Grove Family Day is this Sunday 8/14

This charming little park in Ross, Ohio, (about 20 minutes west of Cincinnati) is having their Family Day this Sunday 8/14. Strickers is a privately-operated park only open to the public 2-3 times a year.

The website is never very informative, but if tradition holds up, drinks are FREE once you pay admission. The food is reasonably priced and includes Burgers, Hot Dogs, Chicken (BBQ), Roasted Corn on the Cob, and others.

Now...the rides. Very family-friendly. Everything from the Carousel, Ferris Wheel, Tilt-A-Puke, Eagles, and two woodies: The Tornado & The Teddy Bear among other rides.

I hope people get to experience this park, (and not only if you have little ones). It's fun to see a family friendly park set in the middle of nowhere surrounded by cornfields! I won't be attending most likely because I'm probably going to the Ohio State Fair that day.

But if anyone does go...can you pick up a flyer at the exit giving the October date they usually open up again to the public and pass it on. Thanks!

I'm going to be there. Anyone know the opening hours? I'll call them myself if nobody else has, but I'd rather not pay hotel phone charges if I don't have to.

I might be there - still mulling it over. I have a chip on my shoulder about them removing the crazy dazy!

I think they open in the early afternoon - 1 or 2. Then they close the rides for an hour or so (I think from 5-6) for dinner (dinner for everybody - that's when they start serving the grilled burgers/dogs/corn). Then they run the rides from 6-9 or 10.

It's a neat little park and the coasters are a lot of fun. Heck of a deal for the $8 or so admission price (less than the parking charge at corporate themers).

I will definatly be going. I was unable to go on the 4th of July. As I am coming from Cleveland, it would be helpful to know exactly when they open. Anyone?

I am guessing they will open around 1 or 2-ish, but I would call the park ahead of time. If they don't answer they usually have a recording telling all the details, including prices and hours.

I went on July 4th (first visit) and loved it. The sodas were $1 if I remember correctly. The food was pretty decent and very cheap. Besides, what other park is there where you can husk your own corn? :-)

Tornado and Teddy Bear were cute coasters, very fun. The flyers were the highlight, though! I was impressed with the park. Great selection of kiddy rides including a "kiddy" turtle that I don't believe I have seen before.

The park is open from 1pm to 9pm with ride hours being from 2pm to 5pm and then 6pm to 9 pm. Parking is free and there is unlimited free soft drinks. Price is $9 per person and there are flyers going around the cincinnati area with $1 off coupons. Hope everyone has a good time!!

I wonder if swabinchin(sp) is going to be on the bill of rides yet? This looks like a nice little park, wish I could make it.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

bduc420, do you know where exactly I could get a few of those flyers? Do they have them at a local McDonalds or Grocery Store that I could stop at on the way to the park?

And is admission less for a child? *** Edited 8/9/2005 4:07:33 PM UTC by Jason Hammond***

No admission isn't less for kids. I took my 4 year old, and it was 12.75 on July 4th. If anyone was there on the 4th they handed out a ton of flyers for the 4th.

I just found it as well. 9.00 per person. Kids 2 and under are free.

Includes: all rides roller coasters, free parking, and free unlimited soft drinks.

Park hours 1p-9p ride hours 2p-5p and 6p-9p.

My flyer says 1.00 off up to 4 people. Wish I could go. I miss riding the flyer's with my Ohio guys.

Hey Jason,
Katie was right about passing them out during the fourth but the drive thru by my house in Mt. Healthy (cincinnati area)also has them. I will not be able to attend as myself and the future mrs. bduc420 have prior engagements. If you are in the area saturday i would gladly meet you somewhere and give you mine. I think i have four or five.

WHAT?! Gate admission was free July 4th! Then it was pay-per-ride tickets or wrsitband and no free drinks.

No it is just a little convenient store drive thru. I have been going there for years and just found out the other day that he is a coaster lover like the rest of us!

Is it open on Sunday? Do you know the address or a street and cross street?

pkidelirium,

I believe she's referring to the flyer for this Sunday.

Damn. I knew I shouldn't have threw that flyer away. lol. I could of mailed it to someone. :-)

Jason,
I will stop by on my way home from work tonight and get you an exact address and phone number if possible that way if you get lost you can call. Just promise to have fun
I may end up being there after all. Dealing with some sickness this week, and am leading a youth trip to PKI on Friday. So I may not feel like putting up with the crowds in Columbus at the fair...Stricker's sounds much more my speed by the time Sunday gets here. Besides I know my kids will have fun there, and I'd like my sons first wood coaster to be the Teddy Bear.

$12.75 for Family Day? Are you kidding me? it was $8 last year!

Not a problem bduc420. This will be my first trip to Sricker's Grove, but I've been wanting to go for years. This has been my first opportunity.

Family Day, i.e. This Sunday, August 14 is $9. The $12.75 was for the Fourth of July. I believe they charge more that day to help cover the cost of the fireworks.
