Hmm.. I just happened to think how much fun it would be to snap some flyers up on that tower!

I'll stick to the shot. Even then, they need something a lot more appealing to get me to that end of the strip again.

^Agreed. I think it was 'Gator who recently posted SPEED was THE ride to ride in Vegas.

I go to Vegas once or twice a year, and yet has a ride been built there that I will repeat. Maybe ST:TE, but that is purely for the comic value of it all.

What i'm wondering is how much more crap they can fit on top of that thing. Do you all think they planned on adding all these things over the years when the Statosphere was in the design phase? Or this stuff is just coming cause they're increasing in popularity?

A bit of both, I'd say. I assume they had an idea that they would add more rides if the 2 they started out with were popular, and with Interactive offering decent flats at the right price that can fit up there, I'm sure they'll put as many as possible.

They outta stick a sky tower on top...perhaps they could buy Tragic Mountain's... ;)

I didn't find High Roller or the shot that scary. What I didn't much like was the feeling of High Roller rumbling around when I was below in the interior observation level. Very disconcerting.

So Jeff, the Bonanza Gift Shop, Del-Mar Hourly Rate Motel, and the Pawn Shop with the walk-up window aren't enough to get you back to that area? ;)

Ray P. (who loves the Strat but wishes it was in a better area as well)

The Las Vegas Advisor (a newsletter I get the old fashion way - the US mail) had a blurb a few months ago stating that this latest ride would be it for rides on the tower.

The High Roller stinks, but I always take a trip to that end of the strip to hit Speed and the Big Shot.. With a pit stop in the Top of the World bar afterwards. :)

The XScream was ok, but I don't think it warrants a re-ride. It's an interesting experience being dangled over the edge of the tower, but the ride action itself is very mediocre.

Hopefully the new ride will be open by May for my next trip out to Sin City.

I really think that they need to keep adding rides to the tower because the hotel is doing so poorly. Of all the hotels on the strip, the Stratosphere is one of the most underperforming of them all. I think some of it has to do with it's location at the very end of the strip and almost into the seedier areas of downtown Las Vegas.

As for my experiences at the Stratosphere, I didn't ride anything. I really didn't have a choice, as there were wind advisories that day, however, I wouldn't have ridden had the rides been open. The moment I walked out on the outdoor observation deck, I looked up at the coaster track above me and got instant vertigo. I was immediately plastered to the wall and inching my way back to the door to get back in.

Certain victory.

You read my mind!

Actually, with all of the off-strip stuff that has been on TV in the last year or so, I think it's worth looking around. The Palms has been on Real World and Celebrity Poker Challenge, and I kind of like how low-key Green Valley Ranch is (on Discovery's American Casino).

All I know is if I'm 1000 feet in the air, it's in a plane. Leaving or landing. In theory...

I will say that as I adjust to my new home town, I'm grateful for the tower. You can see it from virtually everywhere, and I use it as a directional guide when I get lost. Which is easy and often.

I can't wait to do speed, as well as X.
Sounds like I need re-hab, eh? ;)

It's especially useful when you get off the freeway an exit late and end up in North Vegas....which is exactly what happened during our honeymoon.

All I can say is that I'm glad there are more than one Travelodge on the strip because the one on the North side was well...you know.

Your telling me! Haha, $1 dollar strip shows in individual boxes almost right across the street from the Strat. I haven't been on X Scream yet, but will surely pay the $ just to try it once...its very similar to G* Skate @ Knotts isn't it?

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, heights more fascinate me than terrify me.

I agree with Jeff though, I'm not a fan of the loudness of the High ROller inside the Observation area. *** Edited 10/25/2004 11:24:08 PM UTC by ziggyziggmuff***

That's nothing this is what they should do.

Build one of those rides that pin you against the wall. Have it go out and over the tower then drop the floor. So Its you the wall and the ground!
