Stratosphere faces residents opposed to giant coaster in Vegas

Posted | Contributed by Sampleman7

Stratosphere officials have spent six figures working with Arrow to see if it's feasible to build a coaster on the Las Vegas structure. They intend to pitch their plan to the planning commission despite opposition from surrounding residents.

Read the story and see video from KLAS.

Also prostitution while not illegal in the city. IS illegal in the county! Meaning that it still essentially illegal in Las Vegas. BTW...most of the strip is in Clark County and not the City of Las Vegas.

Until you own your own home, stay out of the conversation because you don't have a single clue about what you're talking about.

I don't own my own home. But you bet all the money in Vegas that I have more than a few clues about what we're and what I'm talking about here. If I didn't know, I wouldn't say anything. But thanks for the invitation. I'm always up for the challenge.

I know how much I need my sleep at night and the sound of a coaster, while very enjoyable when I'm at the park and in with the atmosphere, is definitely something I would never want in all day and night operation in my backyard. The noise can affect all sorts of things in life besides sleep such as doing work at home, relaxing, watching TV, eating dinner,... and that enviroment alone is very stressful for someone to have in any situation.

If the Stratosphere really needs this to keep business going(which has to be stressful on them now too), I would suggust them to negotiate money, sound barriers, etc. to ensure than their home value would not go down and it wouldn't be disturbing to them after being built including something that said what the home owners wanted with it if that wasn't successful. I know I wouldn't want to leave my house for anything and I've already had a big arguement with my parents on why we should keep our house we're already in(which I won!:)...and found out the house is worth over a half million dollars...and rising!).

So, I know all about that home feeling even though some adults think teens are ignorant fools(but we really know it all...or just think we do ;)). *** This post was edited by Koaster King on 8/30/2001. ***

How much noise can one coaster make? Arrow coasters are relitivly quiet, and this one won't even turn so there won't be the noise of the side friction wheels.

Obviously, my point didn't sink in. This coaster, if built, will not make more noise than the surroundings. It will certainly blend in, but not rise above the rest, as some might claim.
Holy Crud!!!!!!!! Wouldn't that be amazing, but I can't really tell if it's a blastoff, or a lifthill, ofr where the station is, can anyone decifer the drawing?????
Koaster King, they wont run the coaster all day!!!!!! only till like 10pm. thats what they do with the new york new york coaster. and they area there, u wont even HEAR the coaster, cause it is soooo loud there!!!!!!!
Ok, lets set it straight. DO NOT tell me I am wrong because I live in vegas. First of all, the neighborhood by Stratosphere is one of the worst parts of town. It is packed with gang members. The person who was whining about screaming is not telling the truth. You do not hear anything on the strip coming from that Tower. You hear the air charging for the BigShot launch, but thats all the noise that comes from the Tower. If you say I am wrong, email me with the proof and we will discuss it. I have lived here 13 years of my life, before the Stratosphere was even built. Just stating the facts.....
