Step aside Kingda Ka, New World's Tallest, Fastest Coaster, you wont believe whose building it!

Is it me or do record breakers just seem to not have the same impact nowadays?
Not when they turn out to be unreliable one-trick ponies. Build a 500-foot tall hypercoaster along the lines of Magnum and then you'll have a coaster that makes headlines.
There are some tricks to increase the impact and make something sound a lot cooler... such as attaching the word "2000" to it's name (works with almost anything!).

airtime for everyone
Rob, i'll second that opinion. Actualy, make that a 500-ft woodie, and THEN that'll be something to talk about.

Right, it's more a matter of everything having been done before. Twenty years ago it was easy to make something big or have it do something that no ride ever did before. Nowadays, that's not such an easy task. Look at what Thorpe Park did when they needed something to get attention- they broke a record by putting the most inversions on their coaster. That was a heck of a lot cheaper than building something like TTD, and considering the market, was probably just as effective.
About they only way they can do something different would be to build a coaster on the moon out of carbon fiber.

Do a 300 ft, 92 degree drop or a 500 ft coaster that does more than just go up then down and we will talk.

Any thing with a number 2 in it seems to be intense, Scat 2 at BB and Magnum XL 200, I think are pretty good examples *** Edited 4/5/2008 3:49:30 AM UTC by Audioslaved***

Needs to be 3000 now. Of better yet, a NEGATIVE number of inversions.

The problem is they spend their whole budget getting up to that height (400+ feet), so they can't afford to do anymore with it. If only CP could cash in Drag and MF to make one super coaster called Drag Force! Heck link up Maverick while they're at it... :)

I'm guessing Intamin is going to be responsible for this, but how much farther can they go into the sky? 457 feet?

I see a thrust air being the new tallest coaster as it is cheaper to build. As for Dragster, I think they will add 4 right turns and retheme it to nascar... JK...

Intimidator 305 the tallest most hated coaster nobody has ever ridden...

TTD does actually have four turns in it. Albeit, two of them are while it's vertical.

For NASCAR, it'd have to be LEFT turns. Heck make it 36-degree banks & call it Bristol!

WBMW Madrid was owned by spanish banks, Warner Brothers and Six Flags had a minor stake in it. They also had a 99 years contract to run it... Unfortunately, things didn't go too well, so Six Flags got out of the contract and resold their shares in the park. The current name is I believe "Parque Warner Madrid".

Six Flags and Warner Brothers did some bad mistakes with WBMW Madrid. Originally, the GIB (Stunt Fall) was supposed to go to Six Flags Belgium in 2001 and WBMW would have gotten either a huge theater or dark ride. Unfortunately, last minute, Six Flags changed their mind, sent the GIB to WBMW (where it flopped horribly! How about complete walk on most of the time?) and Six Flags Belgium received a badly placed standard Boomerang. Never mind the fact that Bellewaerde, 90-120 miles away from the park, in the same country, owned by Six Flags as well, has had a Boomerang since 1984!

That's almost as silly as having Great White and Goliath in San Antionio ;)
