Steel Venom a Hold off?

True Playa but look at near history and some previous cap budgets. Before MF 12 million for a coaster was a lot of money. It's just after 25 mill for MF 12 Million doesn't seem like much. Now we think CP has to have the most expensive coaster ever built to be a big expenditure.

How much was Mantis? Power Tower?

Mantis was $12 million when constructed, and was the park's biggest single investment at that time.

The park's Power Tower came with a price tag of $10 million, the same goes with Knott's Supreme Scream. Both of those S&S monsters opened in '98.

Chi....the reason for the increased height requirement on V2 is plain and simple....it's a better ride....LMAO...;)

And while 10-12M for CP may be a "hold off" year, for any other CF park that IS the year they were "holding off" FOR...;)

PLEASE.... VF gets Steel Venom = VF doesn't get any more than a new flat ride in 2 years and the next coaster comes in 2007 or 2008..... this will be major for VF and I will hafta say a B&M like Wildfire!! I can see it now.... Minnesota Wild-fire.... themed to hockey!!!

A 9 million impulse as a hold off coaster? If that were the case there would be a lot of parks wishing they could install hold off coasters, because for some the 'hold off' would be the best ride in the park! Honestly people, be happy with what you get, consider yourselves lucky.

Who knows, but if you ask me Steel Venom is a nice sized roller coaster for a small park. A impulse might not be the star attraction at a bigger park like Cedar Point, but in a park like vally fair it is.

Okayyyyyyy.....this question is relevant right after you can list a few 1 million visitor/year parks that have built coasters in successive seasons.

Oooh, ooh... I've got one!
Indiana Beach!
(Granted, LoCoSuMo and Cornball combined cost less than an impulse, but SV, WT, V2, LG and S:UE combined are less fun than either one!)

In response to the height requirement, CF likes consistency in their parks in regards to regulations. I would look for it to match CP's 52".
I don't think VF has a lot more room to expand with anyways..... by autocrap.... up front..... but not enough for anything big..... and maybe behind high roller..... I don't think they own that much behind Excal ( after the service road

Haven't we been over this about...oh....a zillion times? Seriously, just reference Cplaya's epic battles with Swoosh.

Hey leave me out of this - I wasn't going to touch this post until someone had to drag me into. I wsh my hands of anything doing with this thread - so PLEASE leave me out of this. Last time we had a discussion on it, it lasted 5 months and 6 pages of threads. Let's not rehash.

So wait, Swoosh, you're saying that WoF gets more capex than VF does? Explain yourself!

If VF would build a TGG or S&S woodie at about 100'-120' tall it could probably be built for 1/2 SV cost. Some people say VF is running out of room like they would say about CP yet other people still say VF has plenty of room to expand. I have even heard ride maintainence people telling me there's no room for a new woodie. A B&M inverted would be a little easier to install than a woodie and it would look nice looping over walkways like the Corkscrew. I'd rather have an airtime filled wooden twister than a B&M and it would be much cheaper to build. But VF lack loops beside Corkscrew and I think the GP there would be hungry for loops. A B&M inverted will definately have easily the longest lines in the park and will stand the test of time. That I don't think it will happen until 2005 or even later.
