Steel Dragon 2000

What is this ride "Standing but not operating" according to rcdb. Did something happen or something? *** Edited 8/16/2004 10:23:33 PM UTC by coasterguy258***
A park with 19 million dollars to their name spent 18.9 million on a coaster.
A wheel flew off and hit somebody. I though they fixed it. Happen a few months backed.

Thanks,
DMC

actually it cost about 30 million to make but u were close
Guess again....it was close to $50 million, and it's not hard to believe when you look at how massive the ride is. *** Edited 8/16/2004 10:47:27 PM UTC by mantis man***

Yeah, but it says its been SBNO since 08/23/03? I remember the wheel flying off, but I didn't realize it still wasn't operating...

Don't think you're all high and mighty, Rob ;) I've ridden it too, though White Cyclone was much better...back me up here!

No, seriously, why isn't SD2000 back up yet? I couldn't tell you the exact cost of SD, but I remember something about it being particularly expensive because it had to be able to withstand earthquakes.

Is it any good Nasai?
Nasai is exaggerating just to make you all jealous. SD2000 is just a big Magnum. Peabody is right, White Cyclone is the real reason to go to Nagashima... it's like a big, brutal Ghostrider. And it's soooo pretty.

You have not ridden it, Rob. Don't lie to get attention, no one will think any lower of you just because you haven't ridden it!

OMG I have a new sig!!!
Come on, it matters SO much what you have ridden. I personally don't read anyone's posts unless they have ridden 400 coasters. That's why I don't read my own ;)

I've ridden Viper at GrAdv 400 times, that's why I spel gud.
How crazy is it that the world's tallest and fastest non-launched coaster has been closed for a year? That has to be KILLING their attendance, don't you think? I sure would be waiting to visit, even if it is "just a bigger Steel Force."

Believe it or not, Joe, I don't think it affects the park that much. A substantial part of their business comes from the resorts and especially the waterpark. THe waterpark is the most amazing I've ever seen, and it is probably their main draw. (eeewwww...saltwater!!)

WHen I was there, folks aren't really obsessed with a specific ride....they really treat the places like parks, enjoying it as a whole, and not basing their day on a specific ride or two.

That's good to hear, then, Jeff. I just can't imagine what would take over a year to correct. I mean, Rob said they were meticulous, but damn! A wheel falling off causes a one year shutdown?

At least it still makes a good billboard for the park. :)

SD2000 is one of the best rides in the world and my current #1. It's just a great ride. White Cyclone was pretty good but it would have been better if they'd spent some more cash on maintenance of the poor thing. It is definitely a very nice looking coaster, though.

Shame that it's still SBNO :( I'm glad I got to ride is when I did.
