State of the Vu's

Who said anything about Deja Vu getting new trains? I believe they're just fixing what they have already.

S&S will be making the new X trains, they bought out Arrow. I dont even think the name Arrow still exists. (unless you file down the rust on some old loopers) *** Edited 12/30/2003 1:23:06 AM UTC by slowmotion***

They did work on the train for DV at SFGAm and when they finally got the ride running at the end of July, it seemed to work pretty well all the way till the park closed for the season.

Hopefully the same will hold true for SFMM's DV.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

You don't know that they aren't getting new trains. It's all just speculation.

And how do you know S&S/Arrow (which is what they're called now) are making the new X trains?

I just hope that the GAm Vu will open May 1st and run all the way until the seasonal close. It did do quite well at the end last year. I just hope the bugs are all fixed becuase it is quite a ride experience!
Didn't S&S drop the Arrow name completely? Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm too lazy to look it up.....but who else would make trains for an Arrow designed coaster?

With the exception of woodies, you dont see other manufacturers design trains for other rollercoasters. It wouldn't even work. A B&M coaster wouldn't make up for the fact that the track work sucks.

Hmm....wrong...wrong...wrong, oh yea and wrong.Well now lets review...We need to have Deja Vu open before our main season starts. Vekoma was willing to send us a new train because the one we have has had problems. The problems were that every so often, the train needed to be examined because it would fall apart. Literally, and Im not kidding. The whole dont put your feet on the metal plate was getting out of hand with having numerous people getting hurt; bolts would fly off the train while it was cycling(not a day passed that we didnt pick up bolts and screws from the station, floor, que line) The train was WAY TO HEAVY and would significantly valley on the cobra roll, and the restraints sucked ass cause they would never close. Since we need this ride to work, Vekoma will be providing new catcher cars and two new cables. Six Flags has ordered a new train by a company that we just dont know. Mechanics and supervisors think its Intamin, but we think thats bull crap. This company has promised the new train will be here in middle of Febuary. The old one still sits next to Psyclone, all the restrains and seats have been thrown away, literally, im talkin garbage...theyre gone. Enough of that...

Now onto X...As you all know Arrow went S&S, yadda yadda yadda...These trains were built weighing a bit over 4 tons...after an incident which maybe some of you may know, but i prefer not to discuss, X went SBNO for about 3 months and now the trains weigh 7 tons with a slower lift speed, Im talkin SLOW. A complete different gear box was added to the two motors that pull this thing. We are still looking for a company to build them but i can garuntee you people, it wont be S&S...

Of course you all have your speculations and your theories but this is how its gonna go and the way its gonna be. Im not saying i know everything its just that this is what the Supervising mechanic always discusses with us because he comes to X every so often to check up on the ride. Hes the one that puts in the orders for wheels, bolts, and basically everything for every ride. I hope i helped you in your questions. You guys have anymore, email me at Civicmahem2345@hotmail.com Peace, i gotta go to work now. The 4 hour line awaits.

What was this incident that he speaks of? I was aware that the train would tear it self apart but why would that require a heavier train?!?
Thanks for all the info To(o)darn...I'll now refer to you as 'our little inside source'. Thats cool they're getting trains by a different designer. Does this happen often? I'd only seen it on woodies.
I've never heard of it except on woodies, anyone else? It seems odd that S&S wants to push the 4D but really doesn't even support the one that has been made.... odd. It seems ESPECIALLY odd that it would happen on such unique, experimental, and frankly pain-in-the-butt to maintain rides. *** Edited 12/30/2003 9:20:47 PM UTC by Jason Wilson***
Some steel coasters do have trains built by different manufacturers, but it's not very common anymore. And it doesn't mean I believe the laughable stories above.

The incident he mentioned happened last July when X was temporarily shutdown due to what park officials described as a "design flaw". The ride remained closed for three months then reopened with the aforementioned modifications. As I recall there was also some rumor about bent track or a bent train or something? I don't recall specifically.

As for third party cars being built for steel coasters, Yes, on occasion it does happen. Off the top of my head Vampire at Chessington England, an Arrow Susspended coaster, was reborn a few years ago with unique floorless swinging cars manufactured by Vekoma.

I have a hard time believing that a 75% increase in train weight was made retroactively. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but it would mean Arrow WAY over designed the coaster the first time around.

It appears that they might have overdesigned it. Look at the supports!
S&S and arrow is the same company now, so if S&S works on it, it is technically arrow working on it. I mean can a totally other company, such as Vekoma (hypothetically) build X trains for X?
Phyter has a pretty good idea of what happened but not close. If you all REALLY wanna know what happened...hrmm, i guess ill tell you...but not right now. But anyway, yay someone hit the E-Stop at X today! Freakin awesome to have the train at the top of the lift for 35 minutes...Why so much weight was put into the trains, pictures tell a thousand words ladies and gentleman, find some pictures of the trains when X had just been built, and then find some pictures of X trains now...you'll see the difference. If you notice the difference, ill happily explain what was added :)
Whatever the case, I just hope X runs well. It's such a great ride, I'd hate to not have it running.
AGHHHH To(o)Darn tell us the story.... plllleeeeasssseeeeee.

Turbo: Yes. Vekoma built floorless trains for an arrow suspended in England (Vampire at Chessington). Morgan also redid Phantom. It's the park's coaster, they can do what they want with it. It probably "voids the warranty" and I'm not sure how the intellectual property is affected or prevents the modification, but it has happened.

On Dec. 21, I went to SFMM (I'll write a TR when I get back home in a few days). Deja Vu wasnt running, not even a sign of work being done on it. Even though all around the ride there were walls and notices with construction notices posted. The rides was full of dust which i saw from Psyclone's line.
