Standing Inverted Coaster

The comfort level of a standup inverted with no floor would probably be as comfortable as a ride on a KMG Tango.

Anyone who found those seats uncomfortable would probably not enjoy a standup/floorless inverted coaster.

Personally, I didn't find those seats uncomfortable. And that also means that the idea is already out there for standup and floorless, just for flat rides rather than coasters at the present time.

I dont really know about anyone else....but I dont really like standups PERIOD. They take for ever to get on and once your on it seems like your getting beat up rather than having a good time. Maybe others are different, but Chang at Kentucky Kingdom was horrible..I even got hit by a penny at the bottom of the drop hill! CP's Mantis wasnt as bad but I still felt uncomfortable...I dont know if it would be the same inverted or not, maybe just depends on the design and the person maybe?

I've never ridden Acrophobia, but I've never heard any complaints about it. That concept obviously works.

As far as the train size, it would be no different than any other inverted or stand-up. The initial part of the drop is the only place in a Batman ride where there is downward curve to the track. Even in Mantis and Iron Wolf, the up-ward curving track (airtime style hills) are very small and minimal - just transitions. The way the ride would be designed would not be that different.

Batman is already pretty intense, concerning the blood in my feet. A stand-up would probably be a bit worse...all depending on the radius of curves and all that good stuff. If someone wants it to be done, it can and will be done.

Regarding that idea of a combo sit-down/inverter...I love that idea. I am picturing two rides...not a single train that is connecting both parts (can you say logistical and structural nightmare!?). For those of you that are naysayers, just look at Setpoint's Seizmic concept. Its the same thing, just on its side. Of course the supports would have to be a bit beefier since the moments would be larger because of the increased supporting distance, which could make it pricier than your average ride, but hey...Magic Mountain likes to do that sort of thing (cough X cough).

Chang is the best one I've ridden. I'm KIND OF sorry you got hit by a penny, but that has nothing to do with the ride being bad. Maybe next time you will wear a mask. Fabio sure as hell does.

Down is the new up.
Why not just combine an inverted coaster with those gravity boot things from the 80s fer-petes-sake? Oh wait, I'm saving that for my Inquisition theme park.

Acro, much like SDGC at PKI, can give you a real *nutcracker* (seasonal humour there) if you don't remember to keep your thighs pressed together...for kicks while waiting in line, watch which guys get off the ride tugging their pants' legs, those are the guys who either hadn't ridden before, or weren't watching closely enough to prevent such an *incident*....good way to kill a couple cycles in line, LOL...:)

My guess is that a standing inverted coaster would make your inner thighs *really* strong...;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Are there any standups with a zero-g roll? that would be awesome....

What would make it more thrilling than a normal inverted or a flying coaster? The standup Idea is pretty much dead due to uncomfortable riding possition. One reason I think the Togos worked is because they were basically short and didn't offer the possitive G's the bigger modles do. That ball buster seat of B&M's wasnt a big hit either.

Chuck, who wishes he could have ridden 7up shockwave backwards though. That looked cool.

Don't remind me. I will NEVER ride another B&M stand-up again after Mantis. I peed blood for over a week.

Let me guess, the next stand-up inverted coaster will include rotating seats and a 0-200 mph launch. *** Edited 12/12/2004 3:56:34 AM UTC by The Mole***

Word, I had never said anything about the penny hitting me in the face was why I didnt like the ride. To me, it was uncomfortable. We dont ask for dumbass remarks on here...I think it is asked to stick to the subject and your not doing so. So let me say my opinion and please leave your 2 sense away from me so that it wont dumb'en me.

Very good jomo, I was just about to post that link. However, regarding real standups, I love Shockwave at PKD, but I don't want to see anymore.
jomo, my French is rusty but the safety sign (photo 3) says:

We take no responsibility for the user.
12 years old and up only.
Remain upright on the pole.
The pole will move on it's own.
Maintain you balance.
Do not jump while moving.
Can you imagine the fits of anger this would put Markey through? ;)
