S:RoS Trains

Anyone know if they are up (any of them) and why there were down for opening?

SFNE's is up for the first time this weekend.

SFA's is currently operating only the blue train.
Any word on SFDL? Im headed there tomorrow and am hoping S:RoS is up and running in all its glory!!
I know that SFA was operating only one train for opening due to late delivery of parts from Intamin. It could be that other parks had the same problem.
Wait, so, the Blue train at SFA STILL isn't ready. Wow, Six Flags is getting bad. I can understand it not being there opening day, just a bit, but a month and more later, and still only one train, thats just horrible. They need to start running two and fast. The lines must be horrendous on a Saturday.

How is it SF's fault that Intamin didn't get the parts out on time, if that's the case?

And the one train operation isn't *just* a SF problem. I was at Kennywood twice this week, and didn't see that second PR train in use once. Or the Thunderbolt's, for that matter.

Ride of Steel was operating last Sunday. That's the only information I have because that's all I heard from a friend who was there.

...we posed an interesting question. If I'm on the phone with someone who's riding a new-to-me coaster, do I get a credit for it? :)

RCTFan,the blue train on SFA's S:ROS was running yesterday while the red train is sitting on the storage track being worked on.

On opening weekend it was the other way around with red train running & blue offline for maintenance.

Have any of these parks with the kick-a** Superman rides ever heard of night maintenance? SFNE's Superman is definitely one of the best (if not THE best) coasters in the world, but it will never get the recognition it deserves if they continue to operate it with one train only allowing probably 5-7,000 people to experience it each day.

Also, I'm admittedly not a huge fan of Intamin due to the unreliability of their rides, but it seems kind of odd that Cedar Point manages to get the parts they need to keep all three of MF's trains running pretty consistently and somehow SF can't. I'm just not buying the "parts didn't come in time" argument.

It would be if they waited until the last minute to order the parts. That seems to be a common problem, the parks don't think far enough in advance.

Inatmin was 13 weeks late at getting the parts Marine World ordered for V2 this last season, so I would imagine similar "lateness" is happening with the RoS trains.

I was just talking to a mechanic the other day and in his words, "Intamin are a pain in the ass to work with."

A real shame too, cause Intamin *does* make some fantastic rides....B&M's reliability is leaps and bounds above, IMO...

Does bring up a question, though...two of the RoS parks currently running one train are having ERT events within a month...(SFA and SFNE)...it's getting close enough so I'm beginning to wonder...ERT with one train on one ride sounds like a long wait.

bill, who understands that *our parks* do this stuff in the winter when we're slow anyway....but our parks are ready for hi capacity when it's needed....perhaps Memorial Day is when parks are planning to be *ready*....they are cutting it CLOSE...;)

Here's the story as near as I understand it at SFA. Parts arrived late from Intamin. SFA preped the blue train for opening day with the most necessary work. They then planned to do the the complete job on the red train. The red train would then be placed in service and the blue train pulled for completion. When I rode the blue train the second day of the season, it was apparent that some new parts and some inspected and passed old parts were in use.

With the weather that we've had recently, I doubt that the lines have been long for anything at SFA. My daughter was a Hershey yesterday and just about everything was a walk on.

I have to wonder if Intamin is so busy pleasing CP with their giant job building TTD that they have forgotten about the need to provide continuing service to their other customers.

I suspect there's some truth to that. It seems they are in the coaster building business, not in the parts business. They may not have the staff to do both, which would explain the delinquint parts deliveries.

Think it's hard to get Intamin parts? Try getting replacement parts of a Schwarzkopf ride...

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

I have seen both the blue train and red train running at SFA this season. They were running one train operation this weekend on just about ever coaster. I'm sure the Blue Train was running on Saturday while the red one sat on the transfer track and vice versa on Sunday. On Wild One they were cycling trains, on Saturday the blue train was running with guests and the red one was cycling through the station and on Sunday vice versa.

Ah, OK.....you mean *up* as in running with two trains operational then....good news....:)

Single-train ops to me is the same thing as torturing your *guests*....not very hospitable...;)

See Matt, that's the same think I dont get. It just seems very odd that SF is having problems with Intamin and "that other park" is not really. Couple that with the fact that the Deja Vus arent open and Two-Face is absent and it strats to appear that the problem is on the 'receiver' end not the 'supplier' end.

But hey, what do *I* know?
