I'm not quite sure if it's LSM or a castrated version of Maglev, but they're definately not LIMs.
I do remember checking out the LIMs last time I was at Disney...I had never notice them before. *** Edited 3/19/2005 6:00:27 AM UTC by Peabody***

wow... thanks for that link Marcus!
I'm rather impressed, I always thought these "prehistoric" looping coasters looked a little more like lumber jack's stone age log party - or medieval torture devices.
This looks almost like a sophisticated outcropping of American pre-Depression splendour.
They must have gotten pretty close - the loop shape is clearly circular, but it's amazing how the little teardrop-modification supposedly made all the difference when Schwarzkopf introduced it with Revolution. (Later, with Thriller/Zonga, he even went back to circular loops).
Interesting detail: The two rows in the car seem to face in opposite directions, making the second row go through the coaster backwards.
Were the rails really wood covered in metal? The width of the track seems very small for a wooden coaster. It's also hard to believe all of that structure was wood. They must have used some steel elements to string things together.
// Talking about Anton - searching the web for more Flip-Flap railway pictures (there even seems to be a little movie with it), I found an image of this perverse plan for a baby:

I wonder what fate I would choose if I had to choose between torturing myself with the Flip-Flap or this luckily unbuilt thing.

The first looping coaster was called the "Centrifugal Force Pleasure Railway" and was built in like 1915 and was made out of wood.
The first looping coaster was built in 1846.
There are many sites that have info - I just chose to link to URC for no particular reason. Do a search.
Nah, probably not...;)
But, much like The Bat, lessons CAN be learned...expen$ive le$$on$ to be sure...;)
bill, wondering what part Sonny's *ever-increasing* price tag played in Viacom's decision to bail on theme parks...

you mean to tell me you don't watch coaster shows on T.V.?
Thanks for the hint - I live in Germany though and your Travel Channel is not available over here (yet) .. unless.. maybe via sattelite.. who knows.
I was thinking that some TV station was probably going to exploit those old coaster movies - all old footage of strange things gets exploited sooner or later.
