Zeus is just fine and that's been around longer than Villain. I think the steel structure is a good thing because it gives parks more options in ride design. (Imagine cornball express with a whole wooden structure!)
Big difference though. Zeus's steel structure is only for the lift hill and drop. The rest of the structure is all wood.

Ric Flair was hitting on the female host, he told her - "Space Mountain may be the oldest ride in the park, but it has the longest line." WOOOOO!

The Villian is still a damn good ride. I rode it in the stinging rain last year and it blew the Beast away.
Yeah, I rode Villian in the rain this year and it was just as smooth and fast as ever. They need to water the track or something :).
A few items....first, shuffling has way more to do with improper maintenance of track gauge than with the trains....if the track maintains the same spacing throughout, the train can't shuffle....and lose that precious speed.... Second, Joe E. and AJ have a point about rain....because the train slides more than rolls in the rain, it will help smooth oput some of the rougher spots in the track....Lastly, seaside woodies and those that get a lot of sun DO require more maintenance....treated lumber has "issues" that should be alot better with the new Intamin laminated lumber....of course, it would still take a miracle for SF to keep them up....
CCI makes fine coasters....even their first (Sky Princess) was still a great ride...watch the laterals on the turnarounds and helix....and that's 10 years later....
edit: make that MADE fine coasters...wow, time warp...

I really am beginning to think something is seriously wrong with The Villain - I was talking to a Ride op yesterday from the villain that just got off her shift, and I asked her why they have only been running one train. they said something about how the wheels underneath the track are "digging too much into the track" and its really bumpy, but the first train was somewhat better. I guess on the morning test rums they may have lost a dummy or two on the second train.
This However, was before my ride that day. They were still running one train, and only 1 row of queue outside was filled. 32min in line...Thats really unfortunate. While standing in line I noticed something very interesting. Usually it takes about 30-35 sec to get to the top of The Villains lift.... Today it might have taken 15 sec at the most and the ride was running incredibly fast, it only took another 15-20 sec to get the the mid course break turn around and straightaway. I actually got Air on the second hill... Like Ejector... heh and I was in car 3 row 2 on the left.
It was hauling yesterday, and if the ops know why its only running one train, and believe me... they were complaining about it themselves to the public...then I really hope it gets some kind of overhaul this winter...
*Beep*Beep*Beep* - *Beep* * * Beeeeeeeeeep..... We're loosing her doc! (The Villain) =o(
