Some info about Penguin's Blizzard River

700pph is the *theoretical* max, right? On water rides, load/unload can be a real pain in the butt, so theoretical capacity is not really even feasible in the BEST of circumstances. IF they don't fill the boats better than they do at TSC (based on *my* experiences), then capacity will suffer...as will guests waiting...

Well la di da :)

I don't know when they started building Excalibur or anything but PBR didn't start construction until Mid February at the earliest. We had a horrible winter in Maryland and I'm not upset in the least bit at how quickly SFA was able to build PBR. On opening day I was told June and now it's going to be Mid-May. That makes me happy!!! It's been to cold to ride water rides till this point any way. In fact the only water ride open presently is Shipwreck Falls.

What's with SFA waiting til the last minute before actually building their new rides anyhow?

Usually most of the other SF parks begin site preperations for new rides as early as september,or even october but SFA always chooses to wait until february at the earliest to begin their site preperations for new rides which results in a later opening of a new ride than the other parks.

I believe that both corporate appropriation approval timing and local permits are a factor in SFA's late starts.

Remember that winter in Maryland is a terrible time to put in foundations. As a result, if the corporate bosses and the local permitting people don't let you start early enough to be finished by December 15, you might as well wait until March to start digging. This winter, I spent a small fortune in a hole in the ground for a foundation that I had to get done regardless of the season.

Wow, I can't believe Diablo Falls is getting rave reviews. I thought they whole concept for a Water Ride that doesn't get you wet seemed quite lame. The ride looked tame and boring. Maybe just worth one ride. But now I hear people saying it was a great ride, who knew?! Seems lame, but I guess not. Now I look forward to riding, but not something I'd want to hurry and rush to, even though I only live an hour away.
