SOB Question

Craig: You have ridden the ONE coaster I would most like to ride in ST. One word of caution though about beast, dont think you will be getting a ton of air like ST because airtime on beast is limited at best. Oh and I loved SOB, I didnt think it was any rougher than a good woodie should be.
there is only one spot i can think of on beast, the second hill. i dont really like the original beast either, except for: the second hill, the part after the second lift, and the longness.

Just so you know, Drop Zone is down because of a burnt out motor. And this is true, I've gotten this info from 3 different ride ops.
Well, last Friday Drop Zone was down when the park opened and then they got it running around 1:00.

AFA SOB goes, we ditched the long line first thing and went to Beast first. Had 2 walk on rides there, then worked our way over to SOB, riding each coaster along the way.

Had a 50 minute wait for SOB at around noon. Stretched it to a 70 minute wait by holding out for first row.

They were running 2 trains on Friday, numbers 2 and 3. There was no sign of a train #1.
I rode SOB 2 weeks ago and here is how you do it...Be there at 9 a.m. when gates open, go directly to the SOB line, wait until ride opens at 10 a.m. and you will ride it before 11 a.m. I did that on a SATURDAY, I rode SOB and his DADDY before noon. My wife and I agree that Pops is still the best. (Woody, that is)

And 5 months to go!!
Now, my experience and advise is totally opposite. I was there for 3 days, and went there 3 days. The first day i wasnt even going to mess with SOB. The next day, I was there at opening, and i ran there. I got there to find the line past the king kobra, yes, you heard me right. I asked a park employee that was monitoring the line, he told me a 6½ hour wait. LOL! who would wait that long. So i decided to wait til about 1 or 2, the water park was beginning to fill up, i went to SOB, and the line was 2 hours, that i could handle, i rode, and i conqured. BEWARE! the ride is jerky. But still a great experience. *** This post was edited by CoasterFreak on 7/31/2000. ***
I went to Kings Island today and got in line for Face/Off as soon as we got there which was about 10:15. We waited 20 minutes or so for it and then headed over to Son Of Beast. The line appeared long so we asked the guy checking heights at the entrance how long the wait was and how many trains were running and he told us two trains were running and that the wait was 45 minutes. As far as strategy goes, get there at 9:00 or 9:30, get in position to get in line for Son Of Beast, ride it, then go to Face/Off and Drop Zone.

The strange thing was that when we got closer to the station I noticed that the third train (which wasn't running) was not on the storage platform. Does anyone know why the third train was not there?

Going on a Wednesday you should have a great time. Today there was almost no lines for anything, excluding Son Of Beast, Face/Off and Drop Zone. We were able to walk onto The Beast twice.
I am not sure what happened to the train, but when I first went on SoB the train was squeeking at a high pitch as it went around the turn into the station. There might have been something wrong with it. *** This post was edited by Sinker515 on 7/31/2000. ***
well when i went there was only 1 train running, that makes for the 6½ wait i guess.

Sinker: I dont think that the squeeking was the problem. The other two trains made that same horrendous noise in the evening when i was there (7/24). I never even saw the third train and silly me I didnt bother to ask...
The last time i was there both trains were not squeeking
the only loud noises i heard while riding, was at the top of the lift hill, its as loud as an airplane! We could hear the train up there from the entrance.
