Small Suggestion

Hello-

Jeff, this suggestion is targeted at you. I always like to surf the three forums here at CoasterBuzz. General, Trip and RCT (RCT being that I'm the head of the only RCT Group park at CB).

The thing that would be cool, if you had the time to change--Is the link options on each individual forum.

I think I've seen it elsewhere, but what I mean is that if I'm on the RCT Forum, there would be a direct link where I could go straight to the General Forum.

This is small but I think it would help, especially people with small modems. Right now, if I want to get to the General page to the RCT page, I have to go to the MAIN forums page and then click the link.

Did you get that? I hope it wasn't too confusing.

Coastersmith, there is a Jump to: dropdown box which accomplishes the task you want. It is placed after the search box at the bottom of each forum page, on the right hand side before the navigate forums area and the reply area. :)

Hello--

Thank you Joe and Jeff. It's nice to have a Webmaster that is on the ball---thanks for keeping the boards up.

Btw--I don't know how you choose your moderators---but I would be glad to help you Jeff.

I just retired this year from my own company, and I have have so much free time--I'd be willing to help out.

It is just a thought, if you want to communicate through email or something. I'm sure you'd appreciate the help. Thanks again.

I choose moderators are out of the blue. None of them asked for the job. Anyone who wants to be I have to question their motives.

Hey Jeff,

I don't really have a motive. I'm not trying to pull a power play or anything, I just like the mods here (Chitown is a neat guy) and I wanted to offer my help.

I've been coming here for awhile and with my free time, I took an interest in helping out.

On a similar note....
I would love if there was a way to jump straight into a specific forum from the home page. That in between page is almost completely unnecessary.

Personally, I think there are a good number of mod's already, maybe it is just me, but topics that need to be closed usually do before they get out of hand.

Why would you wanna be a mod anyway? Representing CoasterBuzz whether you like it or not with every post.....yikes.

I'd rather represent me.

I am not part of the system....I am above the system. Over it. Beyond it.

Hello Playa-

When you get older, whether you are above or below the system, your respect for the system gets bigger.

I like how things work here, I think I am one of the oldest posters here. You never want to have an overwhelming amount of mods, but CBuzz seems to have a lot of "crap" traffic right now--and it might increase.

I have a ton of free time, I like the little niche here at this site.

Heee hee hee.

In the words of a silly comedy movie that I quote way, way, waayyyy too often, "As of right now, your skills mean exactly...."

Welcome to the Internet, where the rules of chronological age no longer apply (which is good, cuz 34 is a little older than I'd like to be).

'Old' here means RRC, WOC and URC before it was popular ('99-'00), when Screamscape was a never-ending ASCII page called Ultimate Guide and Rob Coker was just getting his feet wet.

'Elder statesman' is not a title you seek; rather, it's bestowed upon you by your peers--and one the wise accept reluctantly if at all. It's when other posters enjoy your posts, say they wanna be you when they grow up (okay, that only happened once and I won't say who) or quote your posts like they were carved in stone. In this world, I am twice your age.

And to be perfectly honest, 'old' isn't what JP's looking for anyway--even in that sense. He's not particularly 'looking' for anybody--as should be the case.

If you have that kind of spare time, you should break out the cam and develop some pages of your own. Develop some style, some creativity, find your own voice, get a following. Do that sort of thing.

Who wants to be a managing editor when the columnists really run the show?

Hello-

Yes, I've been a member over at URC for god knows how long, before the '99-'00 boom. You know, we've talked over there, Playa.

I remember an up and running WOC---I think you are forgetting one site, that we both know. Since we're on this "old" topic-- do you remember Thrillride?

Also, Playa, I have my own style--being that I own my own Video Production company. When it comes to producing, yeah...I've got the stuff....but I don't have the resources to make my own webpage. I'm assuming you meant (web) pages.

I started my business being a "columnist" doing "gigs" if you want to call them that. Working all the way to my own company now, I prefer the managing editor to the columnist, but that is my preference.

I have a passion for roller coasters and this roller coaster community, I didn't mean to institute power by my "age"--It is just a comment that I'm probably in the minority here.

Whatever Jeff is looking for, hope he finds it...

When was WoC ever up and running? ;) I remember first seeing it circa 1997 with year-old stuff on it. Waste of a domain name.

Anyway, The Playa is right, I can't say I was ever looking for anyone or anything in particular, I just want good conversation. I'm still just the middle man to the stuff y'all want to see on the site. Yes, I filter it like crazy, but it's not because I have some kind of God complex (or am a "Nazi," as so many disgruntled malcontents would have you believe), I just figure that if I don't find it interesting, I doubt many others will.

Hello Jeff--

I'm not sure the last time I saw "active" activity over at WOC, but I used it more for resourceful purposes.

My offer will always be on the table--if you ever need some help, hell--even with online movies for CBuzz or something--drop me a line.
