Small parks that deserve some recognition

Lakeside - The Cyclone itself just puts this park there... :). Ahh such memories at that park.

2006 - 2009 Cedar Fair Ride Operations
2009 - Walt Disney World Attractions.

What about Lake Compounce? Cheap Prices, The Steepest Chairlift in the country, Boulder Dash and Not to mention Free Soda! The only thing bad about the place and the fee for parking and the long walk without a tram
Ok well after hearing about all those parks. Anyone have any parks that they believe are highly overated?

Bolliger/Mabillard for President in '08 NOT Dinn/Summers

Several SF parks I've been too. including 1 or 2 big ones!

Steepest chairlift? Steeper than Knoebels? Gads, I don't think I want to ride that. And how does it compare to Gun Town Mountain (yes, I know the park's not operational, but that's a heck of a chair lift if you've ever been on it)?

Cedar Point, Magic Mountain, and Great Adventure.

GAdv and MM...it's all been said. CP...nice park, just overhyped.

^ By what definition could any of those parks be considered 'small'?

Well the question switched to overrated parks...it didn't say they had to be small.

I can't think of any small parks that are overrated. :)

Overrated parks: Six Flags Great Adventure has to be among the top ones on this list because of its poor operations and the "get you for all the money possible mentality". Sure they have great coasters but what good is this if you can only cet 4 or 5 rides in on them unless you pony up something extra to jump the line.

IMO there are a number of the Six Flags parks are overrated. Fortunately, there are some like SFOT and SFGAm where this is not true.

Some thrill ride seekers might consider parks like Knoebels and Holiday World to be overrated. These are great parks in other respects but thrill seekers looking for a comparable sized and affordable park might be happier with a park like Kennywood. This park puts a greater emphasis on thrill rides and is adding a Disk-O to its assortment of thrills for the coming season.

^^ Thanks. I missed that. (Compulsive skimmer.) ;)

Oh whatever! Stick to the topic and leave the negativity out of this thread!

My vote would be for Rye Playland. It was my first Amusement park with Dragon being my first coaster. It's clean, well run and the rides are in good shape.

"A" basher?

Nah, it's the same three or four complainers everytime that go out of their way to work it into any given thread.

I agree...and it makes me sick. It's just like those few who disrupt a thread with an off-topic sexual remark that contributes absolutely nothing to the discussion! ;)

Right!? ;)

And don't get me started on the people who complain about complainers...

I've never been (tho I'm totally creditwhoring it next summer) but Wild Adventures in Valdosta GA - aside from the steel coasters being Vekomaland - seems like it'd be a rad little park. Has a CCI woodie, good flats (including an inverter and the increasingly ubiquitous Screamin' Swing), and... yeah. Seems like fun.

Get the credits, and get out. I suggest that you ride Cheetah last, so that you'll not want to leave the park right away, if you hit it 1st. It is total crap. The Gerstlauer trains will forever be the death of that coaster.

lol...lord gonchar, moosh; did i start something? :)
yay, I'm posting with my Wii is that considered a random sexual comment? :p Maybe another park could be Lake Winnie, I hear it's the ' Knoebels ' of the south. *** Edited 12/25/2006 6:03:37 PM UTC by P18***
I'm so glad someone mentioned Stricker's. Chuck hit the nail on the head. Fun park if you're with the right people. IMO, If you have younger kids, you'll have a blast. But the coasters, the flyer, and the soon to be opened electric rainbow will entertain the adults too.

When they cook-out the food is awesome, (burgers, dogs, brats, corn-on-the-cob, etc.). Free Drinks...Free parking...reasonable admission!

I love it! With the family, or adults.
