SixFlags Holland reveals track and tech specs of its hypercoaster Goliath

Posted | Contributed by ronTPV

Six Flags Holland is building a new Intamin hyper coaster with a new, unique layout. Don't be fooled by the photos and video of Magic Mountain's Goliath.

Show me the goods!

Do my eyes deceive me or does the layout include not one, but two corkscrew hills? That is gnarly!

Tell me, did the promo video rip off the faster-than-light star travel sequence from Stargate/SG-1?

I'm mad he said "gnarly" :) :) Anyway, that coaster looks awesome....another Intamin masterpiece!!!

Baby, I'm not always there when you call, but I'm always on time.

I don't think those will actually be corkscrews.  On the video topic, I'm sure SF realizes that the coasters don't look the same.  They do have some of the same elements though, and I think that is the main point that SF was trying to get across.  In my own opinion, I really don't think that the general public in Holland cares that the video isn't exactly their coaster, just like how I don't really care that the V2 I ride looks like Superman on TV.  I'm not a weiner, and weining about a video for a park that I more than likely won't visit, just seems trivial and petty.
Okay I did some calculations, and 46 meters is only 50.3056 yards which is only 150.9168 feet, thats not a mega coaster.  That's not tall at all.  My info says M*1.0936, and the speed is only 65 mph.  106 km * .62137 That's not a hyper, it a highway of steel if that. I analyze too much. *** This post was edited by Vernon on 12/13/2001. ***
Intamin call their Junior Hyper and Hyper coaster Mega coaster so it's an Intamin Mega Coaster

LoadedG:  I suspect one of the reasons SF used the Goliath footage instead of creating a new one is that few would even know the difference.  Sure, WE know its Goliath, but then our passion is coasters and we are a lot more knowledgable than the average person.  Heck, for that matter more so than the media, too.

Six Flags reuses images a lot.  SFMM sells Goliath shirts with an image of SROS on it.  I can virtually guarantee you no park guest has ever looked at the shirt and said, "Hey, that's not Goliath!"  I saw footage of V2 in Deja Vu commercials...the GP doesn't have a clue.

And frankly I don't see why we should get all worked up over it.  IMHO its pretty inconsequential.

Looks to be an awesome ride. I agree that that the thing with the video is pretty lazy.

I had a chance to talk with a SFWoA person at a local attractions show, and she said the reason they use the videos and pictures of other rides is because they usually don't have the real ones up and running when they start promoting them
