Six Flags St. Louis-anything?

On a side note, today (02/25/05) is the 29th anniversary of media day for Screamin Eagle. Saw a short clip on channel 2 news this morning.

Just a couple of G-Force junkies!

Its a good thing eagle is still there or the park would be seriously lacking in the fun ride department.

Down is the new up.
They had some POV shots in that bit on FOX 2... I would love to see shots of the old double up after the turnaround...

I agree bossstl, the kiddy park needs improvement! It needs a lot more shade and the place reminds me of carnival grounds.

Is this CoasterBuzz or CoasterB*tch. It seems when this topic gets started, it always turns into a Six Flags bashing. I know that this park may not be perfect, but it really isn't that bad. I agree though that the kiddie section could use work. I assume that since so many other parks have updated their kids section in the last few years, that it is probably in SFStL's 10 year plan. I think that this General Manager is doing a very good job, just give him some time. It takes time and money to make improvements and they will come if we are patient.

Give them too much time and everyone will finally realize that there are much better parks to take their kids to.
By no means, am I bashing the park. Rather I am trying to point out flaws I see, and notice I really on had a few. Most parks are FAR more worse off, note SFMM. I beleave if anyone can turn around this park its the current GM. What I guess I was trying to sy in hind sight was that, the park has improved in many ways, but it has regressed in others. Ie staffing and entertainment.

Face it the new employees and these internationals suck. Not all suck, but it seems with each passing year it is harder for the park to hirer people, which means they cant fire as many people. If you get what I mean.

I love the park and it is my favoriate over all SF park. Followed closly by SFGAm.

P.s. I am more then grateful that I HAVE a theme park in my city. *** Edited 2/25/2005 11:17:57 PM UTC by Bossstl***

I do agree that there is a personel problem. I find it hard to work when my co-workers barely speak english. People come and go from there way to much!

You bring up a very important point. The high rate of turnover at the park is really killing their customer service. If an employee can get paid more at the McDonalds across the road then why would they put up with the conditions they have to at SF? If they actually PAID the employees then perhaps things would be better at SFStL.

I agree with Bossstl that they need to upgrade the kiddie section. I mean when the dedication plate still reads GOVENOR ASHCROFT you know it is time to upgrade. ;)

As for updating of facades, as long as they work on the Illinois section of the park, I will be happy with ANYTHING they do. ;)

The thing is though, if the international employees are set up and treated right, it can work to the parks advantage.

SFGAm's international employee program works great and in fact they are some of the best employees in the park.

I like SFSTl for the most part. They have some decent rides, good landscaping, and employees are at least decent in most areas.

It has been more hit then miss at this park for me. I have no regrets making the 6 hour drive down there.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

SFStL is only 1.5 hours from Mizzou and it is not a bad park to spend the day at. With that being said, that new coaster in SoMO makes it a lot easier to make the 3 hours to Branson then then the 1.5 to St. Louis.

I would like to congratulate everyone on making it to page 10.

Lol

I dont know, STL has a lot more to offer then Branson. In less of course your over the hill and have 2.5 kids.

I never make INTO Branson (unless I am going to CC and/or WWB), usually I take the Ozark High Rd right out to SDC and take it back. :) I do agree that St Louis AS A WHOLE has more to do. I especially like the NUMBER ONE ZOO IN THE NATION! :)

Neuski, you so funny.

StL Zoo does rule.
Swoosh,

Very creative math considering it is approx. 120 miles from Mizzou to SF. Should I remind you the max LEGAL speed anywhere in Mo. is 70 mph? :)

I luv the StL zoo too! I could see why it is the top zoo in the nation...*cough*FREE*cough* = D

Well that is a little mis-leading as I actually live in Kingdom City, but who the heck on here actually knows where that is. It is just easier to type Mizzou. ;)

And it is 1.5 hours from Kingdom City to SFStL...that speed limit is variable in St. Louis. Point to ONE CAR that drives that slow on I-270. :)

You are closer to Ofallon then Columbia arnt you if you live in Kingdom?

O'Fallon is at mile marker 210, whereas Kingdom City is at mile marker 148. It is roughly 20 miles to Columbia from Kingdom City.
