Six Flags New Englad, known for its famous Superman: Ride of Steel megacoaster, announced their new for 2002 coaster, Batman- The Dark Knight. The statistics aren't clear, but they do confirm the coaster will be 117 ft. tall, over 2600 ft. long, and will last 140 seconds long.

This should be a good one!  ANYTHING with a B&M zero-g roll would win me over!

Is it the roar of Kumba or the kumba of Roar? Discuss!
I have to say that I like and don't like the name. It doesn't have a ring to it. Erik, I told you about the trim brake. The pic is on my website. Anyways, I don't mean to brag but, I WAS RIGHT :D Who were all those crazy people saying that the ride was too far away from DC Superheroes Adventures to be Batman themed? Never underestimate the lack of theming care SF has for their parks.

Who always thought the ride would be Batman themed. I love being right;)

A poster called "Woody" said "I'm becoming horny over coasters"

Nope! No irony here....

Two comments:

1] yes, there is a brake along the course as on BKF, Talon, and other B&Ms but it is NOT used to trim, it is used to stop a valleyed train.

2] For once...just ONCE, I would love to see a coaster open and find that NO ONE complains.  Who cares what they name it or what color it is?  How does color and name affect the ride experience.  I, for one, think BTDK is gonna be one intense, fun coaster.  Kudos to SFNE!

Sounds like a "floorless" Talon!
if you type in "Batman-the dark knight" in the search then you can find the actual press release
Here is the link dont know why its not on there SFNE site.

I-Fan...sorry, it's probably safe to ASSUME the <sarcasm> tags when reading my posts...LOL.  I guess I really should use them more often, just for clarity...
What a stupid name. It sounds like a movie.

Not to be picky, but S:RoS SFNE is 208' high with a 221' drop.  Nitro and AC are both taller and are both on the east coast.  (this is in response to the "highest coaster on the east coast" plug in the press release).

Thats true apollo
Oh gees. It's shorter than the Batman The Ride coasters. The many Batman inverteds are 2,700 feet long in length compared to this one's 2,600. This is slightly smaller than a Batman inverted!? This is going to one small ride.
Six Flags lies a lot in their press releases.... what can you say?  you think they'd spend a little more money to make their presentations as cool as their coasters... but oh well.

Six Flags really does care about SFNE in 2002
It did say over 2600 feet.  Of course, that probably means 2,602 feet long.

This looks like a good ride to fit into a compact space, and perhaps has a cheaper cost than the average B&M.

0-82 in 2.3 seconds! =Wow!

I think the park is well rounded now.  You've got a hyper, intense floorless, and a SLC.  Then there's the woodies-Thunderbolt and Cyclone.  I do think they should consider patchwork in some places on Cyclone.  Now I think the park should get a few flat rides or maybe develop some land-maybe some of the huge parking lot?

Settle down IAG1@school.  No one's saying that they're not glad that SFNE is getting a new coaster.  There's a difference between commenting that something's short and being unsatisfied.

Yeah, my school band gets to go to SFWoA too. We have to play then we get to enjoy the park too.
If I have to type one more colon for a coaster name, I'm gonna scream. Is no one creative anymore?
