Six Flags Magic Mountains' Deja Vu stalls in cobra roll

Posted | Contributed by xbombman

Deja Vu, one of Magic Mountain's latest coasters, rolled back Saturday morning while in the cobra roll. Guests were evacuated through use of the catwalk.

In other news, Thrill Shot remains closed and Psyclone's trains have recieved a fresh coat of paint.

Again... They should make the ride go faster or something so it stops stalling.

So now even the bigger versions stall. What is it with these things?

This is definitely no suprise. The one at SFGAm **crawls** going backwards through the cobra roll. Its amazing that it makes it through at all.

"The Peoples Elbow" or "The Spinaroonie?. Cant decide which is the most electrifying move in sports entertainment!!! LOL
Vekoma shouda of used different trains. Those things don't look the least bit aerodynamic.

I was there and I saw it sitting 110 ft. in the air!  It was pretty cool.  The one at SFMM doesn't go as slow backwards as the ones at SFOG and SFGAm, but it does go sorta slow through the cobra roll.

Thrill Shot was closed.  Darn!  I wanted to ride it.  Who cares about a fresh coat of paint on Psyclone's trains?  The ride is still very rough!  I should not have ridden it Saturday.  The retracking did nothing.

What they gotta do is ease off the trim brakes in the entry and exit of the vertical loop.  If these are off entirely, there would be no problems.

SAVE INVADER ZIM!
oops - sorry!

You would have thought that Vekoma would have found the problem by the time countless of these were built - it seems to be a pretty popular seller for them.

Also, I know Vekoma filed for bankruptcy protection recently under Dutch law.  Does this mean no more Vekoma designs in the future?

any pics?

The trims aren't on when it goes through them.  They turn on when it's climbing the lift, but they are only there to stop a train in case it didn't make it all the way up the lift.  It makes it valley quicker.  I'm sure they wouldn't be on when it goes through them.

Check the link in th initial posting for pictures.

It looks like they move the train to align a few seats at a time with the platform under the cobra roll.  Does anyone know how they do this?

This doesn't surprise me a whole lot. When I as at the park a few weeks ago, I could not believe how slow the train moved through that element. I think I even made a comment about it while in line. I even asked some of the locals I was with if it usually goes that slow. They said it does on colder days.

So who wandered back stage into areas where guests should not be to grab a photo of Psyclone's trains?
