Six Flags Magic Mountain planning a suspended motorbike roller coaster

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

A new first-of-its-kind ride coming to Six Flags Magic Mountain will take thrill seekers on an off-road motorcycle ride over rugged hillside terrain when the new roller coaster debuts at the Valencia amusement park in 2026.

checks Bingo card. Nope, not me.

Figures. We delayed our west coast trip to this year.

This doesn’t seem to be the competitor to Hollywood Drift that I was expecting.

This type of coaster isn't even listed on Vekoma's site. What on earth do the trains look like?

As someone else said "Magic Mountain should take care of the toys they have before buying new ones." Last time I was there, the park was a mess, in every way. Similar but even worse than Great Adventure.

So glad I have SF Great America here.

They deserve a year, but I'm anxious to see what kind of impact the CF leadership has on "problem parks." My guess is that the park-level leadership has to prove its ability. People love Fiesta Texas (which is not surprising, given who that GM is), but Magic Mountain gets pretty consistent disappointment vibes.

I expect a lot of theming will distract from how stupid and pointless a "suspended motorbike coaster" can be. I imagine a roller coaster track above, a train holding several suspended motorcycle cars, pretending to ride on a themed roadway or rugged path below.

The layout is online. It looks like it will be launched given the placement of the supports. It looks to interact with the station in some way midway through the ride. The park probably wants more of a family coaster to compliment the thrills they already have.

Has the merger finally brought to an end the "competition" between two parks separated by 2,300 miles?

Too bad the Harry Potter and Star Wars licenses are taken because this concept would be perfect for a Qidditch (sp? Sorry, not a Potter person) or Endor Speeder Bike ride.

I will say if those diagrams of the ride vehicles that are floating all over social media are accurate, the riding position looks a tad bit uncomfortable.

Since when has theming become so important that we'd be disappointed if it didn't make sense? Especially at a park like Magic Mountain? Give me a mountain of wood with wheeled boxes rolling all over it and I'm happy. They can drop all the DC baloney for all I care. If I want theming, I'm going to a couple other parks in Orange County. :)

I mean, people complained 20 years ago about top fuel dragsters traveling vertically, so...

Coasterbuzz - Coaster enthusiasts, but so much more. We're the good ones.

This seems to have been planned since before the mergers, but they did allow it to progress post-merger.
I half expect to see CP build another coaster in 2026 and for SFMM to lose Superman plus something else so that CP can regain the U.S. coaster crown. Though they did allow Canada's Wonderland to surpass CP so maybe they're not so petty.

Nobody in the C-suite of any of those parks has cared about any of that since Kinzel retired. Now that it's one big happy family of a company they likely care even less.

Why do you think that a business cares about one location having some arbitrary thing and not another, especially when the exec team is in Charlotte? That's like Starbucks only offering pumpkin spice at their "favorite" stores. It doesn't even make sense.
