Six Flags Magic Mountain announces Tatsu, a B&M flying coaster. The ride will have a 170-foot tall lift, reaching speeds of 62 mph over 3,602 feet of track. The first drop will be 111 feet and the ride will have a 124-foot pretzel loop.

TatsuLvr,

It's not so much of focusing on the failures as it is that we can't escape them. Dorney has failures, Hersheypark has failures, even SFGAdv has failures.. however I see a huge amount of good in all three of those parks (GAdv has improved greatly in the past 2 years). SFMM I had one visit and wasn't all that impressed. Yeah, they have an awesome coaster count, but if you're getting the customer-service equivalent of being kicked in the jimmies, how much are you going to want to go back? Not much, even with an athletic supporter.

What you're saying is that we should willingly open up our sensitive areas for kicking because it's an amusement park. Pardon me, but I don't find that amusing.

Here we are with what will undoubtedly and undeniably be one of the best flying coasters in the world. Unique terrain, great design(ers) and awesome theme all combine for something really exciting.

I absolutely agree and have said so many times, as have others. I don't see how one can discuss Tatsu without discussing the park, they go hand-in-hand.

Wow, I haden't really read this thread all the way through until today, theres lots of negativity! Do I blame you guys? No.

My one and only trip to SFMM was on a Tuesday in July of 2002. As a non-biased reviewer I probally would have given the park a "C" for the day. The prices weren't abnormal, the employees didn't really strike me as being horrible, the crowds were relitively light.

I thought ride maintenience and operations were pathetic. Psyclone's B&M trains were interestingly bad at tracking, X, Ninja, and Flashback were down (Flashback being down for summer-which I think is completely rediculous)
I enjoyed "most" of the coasters and the water flumes were great.
The landscaping and themeing were nice, too.
I DID get on Deja Vu, though!

I haven't been there enough to say SFMM "sucks" but I can Imagine it doing so. A new coaster won't help their issues, but its something new to try.

Anyway, Im posting on this thread to ask a question about Tatsu....
Has the park announced a possible opening date yet? I don't have my magic 8-ball in front of me. They said "spring 2006", and with the ground work going on now, do you think it will be late-spring? Im planning on being in the area in late April, but Im not sure If I'll get to go....thats up to the Wife!
