Six Flags Magic Mountain today announced another world-record addition to their coaster dynasty with FULL THROTTLE, the world's tallest and fastest looping coaster slated for the Valencia theme park in 2013. Unlike traditional coasters, this unique, one-of-a-kind triple launch coaster will take the coaster experience to the next generation as riders face a never-been-done-before launch up and over a "Top Hat" that traces the outside of a world-record loop, towering 160 feet — plus a zero to 70 miles-per-hour acceleration on two forward launches and one backward launch into and out of a special effects tunnel. FULL THROTTLE will be located near the front of the park in a newly themed five-acre section where guests will experience high-energy thrills through fast-paced imagery, sound and lights. With this addition, Six Flags Magic Mountain, the Thrill Capital of the World, firmly holds the coveted "Coaster Capital of the World" crown — with a total of 18 roller coasters — more than any other theme park on the planet.

"Six Flags is known world-wide as the industry leader in next generation thrills. And, bar none, Six Flags Magic Mountain leads the pack, offering the biggest and the best ... always," said Bonnie Rabjohn, Six Flags Magic Mountain park president. "As we mark our 42nd anniversary of operation, we're ready to take Southern California by storm, yet again, with the most comprehensive collection of thrilling roller coasters anywhere in the world."

To begin their journey through the park's distinct mountainous terrain, riders are loaded onto sleek black and silver trains, sitting two abreast, and are suddenly accelerated from zero to 70 miles-per-hour in the first of three launches, experiencing their first inversion and thrill of navigating a world-record 160-foot tall loop. Riders then enter into a high-banked curve to the right and then to the left as they approach the second inversion — a Dive Loop that drops them rapidly into a special-effects tunnel. While in the tunnel, the train is dramatically decelerated and stopped, only to be suddenly launched backward up to the high point of the Dive Loop. After a momentary pause, the train drops and is magnetically launched a third time, racing out of the tunnel and through a high G-turn to the left. Riders then race up and over a "Top Hat" that traces the outside of the World Record loop, where riders will experience significant air time and a breath-taking view of the park before dropping back down, rapidly decelerating and taking the final 180-degree turn to the left and returning to the station where riders can catch their breath.

Something just dawned on me (OK, so Im a lil slow).....Full Throttle is being billed as the world's fasting looping roller coaster. My memory might be a bit fuzzy but doesnt Viper travel at the exact same speed? I know it would seem futile to compete with another roller coaster in the same park, but I just think its a bit comical for Magic Mountain to throw that title on Full Throttle when its speed only matches, not surpasses, Viper's. Im sure the ride will still be enjoyable!

Are you MAN ENOUGH to ride this ride ?

I'll put my geek hat on and say that Viper "enters the loop" at the Arrow Dynamics tried-and-true 40mph, give or take - same size loop, same speed entering the element, all the way up until Tennessee Tuxedo, er....Tornado.

Full Throttle, having a larger loop, enters the element at a much greater speed...

"Tennessee Tuxedo".. (shakes head) :)

The amusement park rises bold and stark..kids are huddled on the beach in a mist

The Freeze twins also go 70 MPH. And just to throw another turd in the punch bowl, I thought top hats were supposed to have some vertical component, ie track going strainght up then coming straight down. Looking at FT, it looks more like a camel back. hashtagjussayin!

I'm in the "It doesn't matter - it's just marketing" camp, and however unimportant it might be, the least Six Flags' marketing team could do is come up with a new name for this "very-different-than-a-tophat" element. My only complaint is the same ol' lack of creativity complaint that I usually voice.

I mean, why name elements at all if you are just going to confuse your guests by naming different elements the same thing? Why name a loop a loop if you are just going to name a helix a loop also. Sometimes I don't think that the people who market the parks know the amusement business as much as they should.

Frankly, they could've said that riders travel on both sides of the loop and that would've been just as amazing as saying there was a top hat.

Personally, I think this new element looks more like a top hat than the existing ones. I propose the amusement industry rename the previous top hats to avoid confusion. How about the thing that they most closely resemble?

The erect penis element.

Then we can all say we've ridden one, and no one would know if we're being facetious or not.

Hehehehee....He said "penis"! And as far as riding one....Well Im gonna leave that one alone. I am curious about something though. I havent found anywhere that lists the length of the track ?!?!? Anyone else notice that ?

And the line has once again been crossed on CoasterBuzz. HAHAHA!

I too am disappointed by this coaster. I expected more of a full size thing than this loop + hill with 3 launches thing with probable low capacity. I was hoping for something more like iSpeed.

I am the biggest complainer about capacity, and this does not look to have terrible capacity, mainly because the ride is less than one minute long, and the train can carry more than a few riders. That's my observation, anyways.

Is this the thread where we complain about false advertising because the element advertised (a top hat) is not the one at the park (a hill)?

^Also, you probably mean phallic.

I see the humor in your response, but there are no official names for elements. Corkscrew is certainly not Vortex, but a zero-g roll could jut as easily be a barrel roll and a corkscrew a flat spin.

Come ride the Amazing ALL NEW Super Coaster, FULL THROTTLE! First, feel the wind in your face while you zip from zero to 70 in the unique "incredi-launch" feature! Then travel trough a gi-normous 160 upside down teardrop shaped looping element guaranteed to make you scream!

Next, feel the magical "S Turn" element that will twist you to the right and then immediately to the left in a fast-paced sequence that will provide maximum thrill, followed by a one-of-a-kind, edge-of-your-seat "Jack Rabbit Twist Inversion" into a full-effects tunnel of light, sound, and fog, called "The Trippy Tunnel of Technology".

Coming to a complete stop, you'll have no time to catch your breath before another launch, this time backwards! This awesome launch is actually called "The Awesome Backward-i-Launcer", and slings your train back up the "Jack Rabbit Twist Inversion", only this time, since you are traveling backwards, we call it the "Inverted Jack Rabbit Twist inversion". Falling back to the earth from a breathtaking 25 feet in the air, entering the Trippy Tunnel of Technology once again, you then hit the "Backward-i-Launcher" for a second time, thrilling to what we call the "Forward Launch Supreme Extreme"!

Just when you think it can't possibly get an more "funner", as they say here in California, you then rise and then immediately fall in the very very unique (so unique that we had to describe how unique it is) 160 foot tall "Leaping Lizard Top Hat Surprise", which can only be described as a kind of airtime hill that travel OVER the upside down teardrop shaped looping element!

This outstanding roller coaster experience ends with a extreme quick stop from 70 miles an hour, into our highly technologically advanced magnetic braking system, something we like to call, "Stopa-licious Screech-and Peanut-Butter-Sandwich"!

It's a heart-pumping, jaw-dropping, scream-inducing, palm-sweating, finger-licking, I-just-can't-take-any-more, 35 seconds of thrill-inducing, seat-wetting, fun-filled, extremely irritating, edge-of-your-seat, blood-pumping, demon-possessing, I-can't-believe-it's-not-butter-thinking roller coaster debuting in 2013 at your favorite Magic Mountain California Theme Park! If you don't ride it, you suck!

For those of you unconvinced by the "marketing jargon" - Rip Ride Rock'it. Exciting new element names for hills, turns, and drops...LOL!
