Six Flags Great America's Deja Vu to open "soon"

Posted | Contributed by redman822

Six Flags Great America in Gurnee hopes to soon reopen a roller coaster that stranded 32 riders when it stalled earlier this month. Deja Vu has been closed since May 5, when the ride prematurely halted that evening because of a power interruption. The park says it has taken nearly a month to fix Deja Vu because the mechanics involved are in a difficult-to-reach section of the ride.

I'm so glad SFMM is my home park. I couldn't stand missing a ride on this. It's just so freaking great.

I'm going there June 4th as well, and probably later in the month, and several more times this summer. Although I'm almost sure to get a ride on it at some point, I still would like to get that ride in as soon as possible. From people who have been on it, it looks like it is a very good ride, and I'm very excited to get on it.

How does the ride stall between the loop and tower
2? Did it stall coming backwards, or going forwards? This is a new one.
Stalling between the loop and the tower is not a new one, it happened a couple time last year after it didn't catch the catch wagon. I am a big fan of Deja Vu and I think anybody saying it needs to be scraped is either crazy or hasn't rode it yet. Sure I admit it is a piece of crap, but its an awesome piece of crap. I am hoping now that it has its first chance to run in warm weather it will run fine all summer and run just as good as SFMM's is in the warm weather.

Well I hope it opens soon, i'm going to be there in late June, I sure hope hope hope that it is!
i rode deja vu last year and i can honestly say i didnt think it was that great. i would have rather gotten a better ride that was more reliable. i understand that every ride has its problems but come on this is nuts. i would never wait 3 hrs for this ride there is better things i could be doing with my time. from what ive heard its suppposed to open sometime this week. im kinda thinking tomorrow in the afternoon but who knows itll all depend on how testing goes in the morning i suppose
I hate to say it, but I was at Six Flags Great America Today 5-29-02, and they were testing it all afternoon. However the thing Vallied twice. Not once, but twice. The first time it got stuck in between the second spike and the loop. The second time it really didn't valley, but it released early from the first spike and the brakes on the cobra roll caught it, and stopped it. It didn't test the rest of the day. I talked to a ride opperator in the morning and he said they were hopping for it to open tommorow. I then talked to another ride opperator this evening, and he said it most likely will not open till next week to the two problems that happened today. *** This post was edited by Scott1616 on 5/30/2002. ***
Deja is up an running as of June 7th at 12:00 pm. Its a great ride! I hoped for a better one but, beggers can't be choosers. Its almost as good as V2, but V2 and Raging Bull are still the best Attraction at GA.
