Six Flags Great America's Deja Vu to open "soon"

Posted | Contributed by redman822

Six Flags Great America in Gurnee hopes to soon reopen a roller coaster that stranded 32 riders when it stalled earlier this month. Deja Vu has been closed since May 5, when the ride prematurely halted that evening because of a power interruption. The park says it has taken nearly a month to fix Deja Vu because the mechanics involved are in a difficult-to-reach section of the ride.

I bet you it will break down the same day it opens.
Well, good. I'm going to Six Flags GAm in June and would be greatly dissappointed if I didn't get to ride this fabulous looking ride.

Mamba; The inspiration for SD2K. It doesnt get much better than that. Come to the Midwest;and ride the most underrated coaster in the U.S.

Mamba - I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Someday there will be something here.

Wow. I was actually there that night. My friend's mother was on the ride when it stalled, too...

Well, at least I did get to ride it, but to be honest, I wouldn't wait over 30 minutes to go on it again.

....it'll be nice to be able to compare the one at SFoG with this one....I will NOT be greatly disappointed if it's down though....( can't say the same about Whizzer, Viper, Eagle, or The Bull, or even IW - for historical purposes .....).

Still amazes me how Vekoma could take a ride as good as the Invertigo, and make a "better version" that is THIS unreliable.....

I say rip the stupid scrap heap out of SFGAm and put a Mr. Freeze clone there instead!

Kick The Sky,

I thought that too, but then I remembered that they already have LIM ride sucking up tons of power. So, we should get a Hypersonic XLC clone or other compressed air launched ride instead. But I'm sure they won't rip it out. They are doing some major repairs that should set things straight. I still think it is barely worth the wait, with the lines the way they are now....once the novelty wears off, and the lines are shorter, I'll probably appreciate it more. I hear V2 is acting up again :( Maybe SFGAm should stick to time tested chain lifts and gravity powered rides...they're not having too much luck with these new technologies.

HERE, HERE!

To think they removed a wonderful, unique family ride like Skywhirl for this non-operating, repetitive (they have 2 other inverteds) pile of dutch junk. They got what they deserved with this one.

Alright, alright. If it opens in the next few days and operates well the rest of the season, I'll be willing to show grace and mercy. But one more major problem, and I'm going to write Six Flags. (As if that will make a difference).

Well I have a bet with my friends that it will open on thursday. And if it has any more huge problems this year I will just scream!

Sheesh, alot of negative comments about Deja Vu here. I predict this DV will open just fine and deliver the great ride experience it is capable of doing. Riders will come off the ride "oooo-ing and aaaah-ing" just like they do at SFMM.

Can you tell i am a huge supporter of Deja Vu? I love this ride. I hope it runs problem-free for the rest of the summer.

Nothing... NOTHING... can prepare you for... the Fourth Dimension!

SFMM's seems to be doing fine! Why are SFoG's and SFGAm's doing so badly?

Soggy, you're not the only one. Deja Vu is a great ride, and although the technical difficulties are a nuisiance, give this ride a chance. Not many rode it during the 2 weeks it was open last year, and I'd bet that those who haven't yet ridden this great coaster are in the "Tear it Down" mob. Ride it, and then tell me if you want it scrapped. Once they get the kinks worked out this ride will deliver as it was meant to be.

Wash away us all. Take us with the floods.

Maintenance was testing Deja Vu earlier today (Wednesday) and it valleyed about 2 pm, thankfully this time between the loop and tower 2. They pretty much gave up after that (I left at about 5)
I sure hope it will be open on June 4th, when I go to Great America.

I rode the ride last year and it was a good ride, but nothing great and their are alot of other rides i would perfer over it!!! How about a great ride with alot better capacity, no reason to build 2 shuttle coasters in the same year!!
Oh no! Another SF tragedy (j/k). :) F/Off had trouble too in its early days. This coaster has to be good....it's in RCT2! I'm giving it another chance.
