Six Flags Great America has canceled plans to install another roller coaster, according to Hank Salemi, general manager. Salami gave no reason for the cancellation and no indication whether this might be a temporary or permanent situation. It was believed that the roller coaster in question was a stand-up that had recently been dismantled at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom to make way for a water park.

I think that's the plan. It's their 50th anniversary. We already know that the revamped Texas Giant will open next year. Mr. Six's Dance Coaster was pushed back to open next year at Magic Mountain.
That's my thinking too Jason. Seems like "the new guy" is extremely business-savvy in terms of getting the most bang-for-the-buck for next year's BIG anniversary. Everyone's going to be getting something, but it's going to be cost-effective, and no one is going to have a ride "thrust upon them" - it's going to fit park needs.

Could the waterpark expansion that was (supposedly) originally planned for SFKK be making its way to SFGAm next year...?
I'm not going to be shocked if the park announces "New for 2011, Bonzai Beach" within the next few months.
