six flags great america or great adventure

If you go to SFGradv, stay in Philly or NJ, do not think about sleeping in the Big Apple unless you and Bill Gates play at the same golf course.
GA better coasters? Well I would not say that. Even though I have never been to SFGradv, but I can tell you GA has one of the best coaster line-up's a park has to offer. I doubt that any of the woodies are as good as Viper. Small, but one of the best rides out there. What about Raging Bull, Giant drop, V2, ect.
I think both parks sound pretty even. Both have a lot to offer.

SFGAm might not have A waterpark, but they are getting one. You come to Chicago, go north A bit, go there, its A great park. Go to the city, watch A Cubs game, its always great, theres so much to do out here. SFGAm wont dissapoint you one bit.
SFGAm. It has a great RC lineup. Great theming. The staff was great. Food was good. Quite a few flat rides. It's just an overall great park.
Well, the first question I have for you is where are you coming from. Looks like you've been to all the Ohio parks. Are you coming from Ohio? If you are coming from that area I highly recommend SFGAM. The drive is much easier than going to SFGADV. I love SFGAM, it seems to be a leader in the themepark industry getting firsts of all sorts of rides and attractions.

"scanz: Even if I rode the SFNE one, I would still prefer Nitro. That is for one simple reason: It's B&M. B&M appeals me more than Intamin. I've ridden more than 10 B&M's. Intamin just doesn't tap into me.

I'm just saying that IMHO Nitro is the best hyper in United States.

I'm not too sure about Expedition Ge Force, it looks awesome and has a potential to be better than Nitro. But I'd never know till I get to Europe next year!

Hmmm. I don't know if it's just you or just me, but I thought Superman at SFNE was way better than any B&M, Intamin(including MF), etc. This is no where near a clone of the SFA or DL version, so it would be a good idea to ride before you judge how it will be. Nitro looks great, but the open trains on SROS feel much faster and Intense than some of the B&M hypers, IMO.

Go to Great America. I will admit right now I have never been to Great Adventure but hear me out about my points. Great America has Raging Bull. Raging Bull's first drop is one of if not the best first drop on a rollercoaster ever. It kicks Nitro's butt. The yank over the top in the back row can't be beat some like it more than Millenniun Force's first drop. Next Great America has V2 and Deja Vu. V2 one of the best coasters out there. It is a clone but the launch and spiral is unbeleviable. The brake on the rear tower is the greatest part. I think it would be a lot better than Batman and Robin sure the reverse tophat is fun but its not even close to the greatness of V2. Next up hands down if you like woodies you have to go to Great America. They have Viper and American Eagle with the red side just retracked they both are flying and producing tons of airtime and laterals. Both parks have Batman the Ride but most say that Great America's the original is a lot more intense and the terrain is great with the coasters set over trees and a little pond. Moving along Demon is much better than Viper at Great Adventure. Demon has great theming and is pretty smooth a lot more than you could say about Viper at Great Adventure. Also if your a B&M fanatic why not come to Great America to ride their first ride. Iron Wolf a great Stand up coaster very compact and intense. It somewhat rough but bearable. Also Great America has the last speedracer in the country. Whizzer has some great characteristics and traversing through the woods makes it feel very fast and out of control. Great America has an all around better selection with speedy ride ops and friendly people. Great America has good theming and also 4 water rides. I will give credit to Great Adventure for two things that is Medusa and Flat rides. Medusa is a very good coaster with the new floorless concept and they do have a good selection of flat rides. But I have heard that the not all the flat rides ever run at once becuase they don't have enough staff to work them. These are all just my opinions and as you can see I love Great America if you go to Great America you won't be disappointed Trust me.
In a nutshell, both are great parks, evenly matched, and you are gonna have a good time at whichever one you choose. So the best thing to do would be to go to the one that is the most economical for you, and the area which has things to do other than the park. Have a great trip.
Why not see them both?
Raging Bull's first drop is one of if not the best first drop on a rollercoaster ever. It kicks Nitro's butt.

I am not trying to be sarcastic but,how do you know???? I would never say Nitro kicks anything's butt that i have never ridden and,you said you havent been to SFgadv rite?? On top of that, you compared almost all of the rides between the two but,you have never been on any of Sfgadv coasters. At least be honest by saying you don't know how good the coasters at SFdagv are, please???

Without a doubt
I've been to both parks, and I'd say go to SFGAM. They have great woodies in Viper and American Eagle, 2 great arrow loopers in Demon and Shockwave, V2 is an awesome launched coaster, and Deja Vu will be freaky (staring straight down 196 ft while you are lifted) Raging Bull is my personal favorite coaster of all time, we have the original Batman, and the first B&M, Iron Wolf, which is a greatly improved standup since it got new padding, and we have a one of a kind Swarzczkopf speed racer with awesome turns through a forest, and we also have an Intamin drop tower, The Giant Drop. On the other hand SFGADV has GASM, a clone of Shockwave, Batman, Medusa, a great floorless. Nitro, my second favorite hyper with tons of air, Viper, a unigue Togo (if it is open) they also have a mine train and an Indoor coaster, both have two kiddie lands, Both parks are very good parks, they are my two favorite parks, but my vote goes to my home park, SFGAM.

So Coaster Rider, have you made your decision yet?????????
I just went to SFGAdv, and I have to say it was pretty darn good....one consideration: Viper is SBNO right now. To my knowledge, it hasn't opened this year. Correct me if I'm wrong. (Heck, even RCDB calls it SBNO). Nitro is an AWESOME coaster. It has perhaps the best layout I've ever been on...but it's not as intense as an Intamin hyper. If Nitro had the same layout, but was an Intamin, it would likely be the best coaster ever built. Just my opinion.

Jman
gadv has awsome flat rides and the most rides anyware in the world!

I have picked six flags great america.
I don't understand what the big deal is about Great America having the original Batman/Iron wolf etc. Great America seems to be the guinea pig of six flags.
no offense, but big mistake coaster rider

Hey, don't question his desicion. How does him going to GAm over GAad affect your life in any way? Who's to say he won't go to GAd another time? Why do people see the need to compare completely different parks that offer completely different experiences? Don't let your pride get in the way of giving someone an honest opinion. I've been to both parks, and even though GAm is my home park, I honestly couldn't tell him which one to go to. I like GAm's park layout and themeing more, and I enjoy the variety of roller coasters here. But, I also love the rides at GAd, flat and thrill. I also really liked the Safari. I guess my point is, this kind of question should be answered by asking quesitons back, like "what kind of rides do you prefer", and such. Don't go putting a park down that you've never been to just because it's being compared against your hometown park. It makes us all seem pretty self-centered and egotistical.

Nicely put Staticman. That's the reason I didn't want to get into this conversation. I knew it'd end up dissing one park or another.
