six flags great america or great adventure

I can only go to one so which one has better coasters better service etc. It is a hard decision.
Great adventure- gasm is better then shock wave.
medusa-the first floorless coaster
nitro
batman the ride like the one at all six flags parks
batman and robin the chiller are getting lap bars
viper americas only heartline coaster out of two inr the world
and tons of flat rides!

How are the purple berries ralph? They taste like burnding. - the simpsons
Depends. I've narrowed it down.
1.They both have B&M hypers.
2.They both have an Arrow that seems to have the same layout.
3.Both have B:TR
4.One has a floorless, the other a standup.
5.One has more woodies than the other.

Is it me, or they seem to be extremely similar. I would say GAdv only because I've never been to GAm

What's a world without upstops?!
Go to SfGAm, they have 12 coasters, tons of flat rides, the original B:TR, Raging Bull, Shockwave(the first coasters with 7 loops), American eagle a racing wooden coaster, Iron wolf B&M's first coasters they made by themselves, V2, Deja Vu (not open yet), Whizzer one of the last speed racers be Anton Schwarzkopf, the Viper a wooden coasters with airtime galore, the Giant Drop, and many many more. Plus the service is excellent and the people are friendly.

Velduanga,

SFA does not have a B&M hyper, but an Intamin one.

I had the same choice but I convinced my mom to let me go to both! w00t!

I'd say SFNJ all the way! THREE B&M's, etc!

Besides, Nitro beats Superman: ROS (any), hands down.

You got it wrong he said should I go to Six flags great adventure or six flags great america not six flags america.
Great America...awesome park, great atmosphere.

Batman: The Ride - First of it's kind, fast, intense, fun.
Iron Wolf - First B&M coaster, sorta rough, but fun.
Raging Bull - First of it's kind, hyper twister, and it's great! Back seat.
Viper - an amazing wooden...features lots of airtime and has a nice setting.
American Eagle - a classic out and back that "takes you back in time", I think :).
Veritcal Velocity - so new, I haven't ridden it yet...but I'm sure it's a "blast" in a matter of speaking ;).
Shockwave - great Arrow looper, can be a little rough at times.
Whizzer - haven't ridden yet, but the last of it's kind.
DeJa Vu - well...it might be open some day.

Well, I hope I didn't leave anything out...but Great America is an awesome park and has a lot of great rides (don't forget Giant Drop!)

Six Flags Great America Is The Better Park Hands Down. Awesome rides usually short lines. and a variety of different types of coasters. Go to SFGA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
You would have to look at it like this......I was trying to make the same decision and these are my thoughts....

Raging Bull vs Nitro, ones a hypertwister, ones an L out-n-back with helix. Both give great rides. Which type would you like to ride? Other than that, even.

Chiller vs V2. V2 gives great vertical effects, while the top hat on chiller is quite a unique thrill. Chiller seems like it would pack a little more of a punch with its layout. Maybe half a point to Chiller.

Batman, same ride, both parks.

GASM vs Shockwave, basically the same.

For wood, Great American wins hands down. Racing effects and size of American Eagle are better. Great American has viper. 2 points for GrAm.

Whizzer, unique ride, while GrAdv has a mine train and indoor coaster. 1 point to GrAm for the Schwarzkopf classic since its one of a kind.

Viper is a togo. Enough said. Not a fan of stand ups here, so Iron wolf evens it out.

Deja Vu, will it be running when you go? Again, with all the problems Vekoma has, i wouldn't count on getting to ride this. 1 HUGE point here to GrAv for their floorless. Another B and M great ride.

Flat rides, Great Adventure wins, they both have looping starships, enterprise, pirate, wave swinger favorites.

GrAm has swingout (does GrAv have this ride?), Condor, Trioka.

GrAv has jump, frisbee, and the Evolution (which is one of the most outstanding flat rides i have seen). Evolution is one of the bigger reasons i want to go to Gr Av.

For coasters, lineup is a little better (especially if you are a wood fan) at GrAM athough they have WAY too many inverts. Flat rides, GrAv has some newer innovative rides. Theming is better at GrAm.

HOWEVER, GrAm is now instituting a PAY fast pass system (see other post). This is a bigger reason NOT to go, to protest this kind of nonsense before it becomes an industry standard.

....But you havn't been to SFNE. I'm going to SFGAdv for the first time tomorrow, and i'll tell you which ride I like better.

Super 7, I totally agree with you on the fact that all fastpass systems totally suck! *** This post was edited by scanz on 6/21/2001. ***
From what i have hear of Sf Great America, both trips would be great. My homepark is SFgadv but,i can't say anything as far as SfGA goes because i haven't been there.Does SFGA have a waterpark?? The only advantage for SFgadv would be that if the other park doesn't have one. Also,if you have younger siblings going, SFgadv has two kiddie sections, one at each end of the park and,the Drive thru Safari is always a hit with younger kids. The coasters look great at SFGA and the coasters are great at SFgadv so,this is one tough decision for you.The staff at Sfgadv aren't any worse as the staff at any other park.I have been to Dorney and seen the same attitudes there. If you go during the week, the staff is pretty good because there is less stress on them when the park is less crowded.Have fun no matter what park you choose :)

SFGAm2K1, have you been reading the other posts? They have basically the same rides, and it seems like Great Adventure has better flat rides.
Oops!

Yeah, both have B&M hypers, both have 3 B&M's. But SFNJ has better B&M's :)

Therefore, still SFNJ!

The Jet Coaster ROARS!
Also, Great Adventure is right near the beach and about an 1-1.5 hr. trip to Morey's Piers, home to to the Great White.
scanz: Even if I rode the SFNE one, I would still prefer Nitro. That is for one simple reason: It's B&M. B&M appeals me more than Intamin. I've ridden more than 10 B&M's. Intamin just doesn't tap into me.

I'm just saying that IMHO Nitro is the best hyper in United States.

I'm not too sure about Expedition Ge Force, it looks awesome and has a potential to be better than Nitro. But I'd never know till I get to Europe next year!

Gradv really lacks in the wood dept. Giant Drop is also a plus for Gam. SFGrav has a free Safari park so that's a plus. I wouldn't really include the waterpark because it is a seperate fee. And when will people realize that all Batman:TR's are not alike!! SFGam's has an intensity that only SFMM's can match and it also somewhat of a terrain coaster, as opposed to the pavement of the clones.
Are you trying to choose between these two parks, because if you are, I say you hit both.

P.S. The fast pass system will be implemented at most big SixFlags parks in the future.

I wouldn't really include the waterpark because it is a seperate fee.

The only reason i included it is because with some hotels you stay at you can get a package from Sfgadv that includes passes to both parks :)But,goonsta your rite,if he isn't going this route when he comes out here i really can't include the waterpark.

Six Flags Great Adventure has a lot better coaster, plus it is the seaonal park with the most rides in the world, i say go to Great Adventure

How are the coasters at SFGradv any better than SFGam's and vice versa?
One's Near Chicago/Milwaukee the other near Philly/NYC. Go to whichever you can get to more cost effectively.
