In 2015, Six Flags Great Adventure introduces its thirteenth roller coaster, Looping Dragon. Twenty riders sitting in “face-off” seats rocket forward and backward pendulum style until the train gains enough momentum to complete a full revolution seven stories in the air. The coaster then kicks into high gear, completing full revolutions until it stops momentarily with riders suspended upside down, and then reverses direction for even more thrills.
Looping Dragon joins the park’s Golden Kingdom section, which is home to the world’s tallest and fastest drop ride, Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom, and the world’s tallest and fastest roller coaster, Kingda Ka.
“Looping Dragon is a great addition to our diverse roller coaster collection because it delivers speed and thrills that appeal to both our younger and more experienced thrill-seekers alike,” said Park President John Fitzgerald. The park’s roller coaster collection includes three of the world’s top roller coasters — Kingda Ka, El Toro and Nitro — plus unique coaster experiences that allow Guests to fly head first, stand and ride floorless. Looping Dragon will have a 48-inch height requirement. The ride is expected to debut in the late spring of 2015.

Since when did the "Fireball" become a "Roller Coaster"? I still love Six Flags.
I don't use the term "meh" much.
The amusement park rises bold and stark..kids are huddled on the beach in a mist
Can't wait until they run it backwards for 2016!
The trick was to surrender to the flow.
I do love the name. Looping Dragons has a nice ring to it.
But it is just a Fireball carnival ride. I've already experienced a ride like this several times.
Which brings me to ask, will the public love it, hate it, or just be indifferent to it? I think it will still be popular, personally.

I don't think this is the Dragon Wagon that Vater had in mind.

Quite the innovators at Six Flags... Installing multiple versions of a ride that the kid from Big was too short to get on in 1988. Maybe next year we can expect a Gravitron or if we are really lucky a Zipper.
When are we getting a wing coaster here in the Northeast? At least Luna Park (Zamperla) has been dishing out decent coasters the last few years..
You won't see me coming...
So who makes these Ring of Fire knock-offs?
But then again, what do I know?
I'm tempted to say they're the "next gen" Larson product....as in, not a knock-off at all. The real McCoy....
Thing is, I think the general public will be a bit underwhelmed by this too. Fireball, Ring of Fire, we've all seen these at carnivals and state fairs.
I saw the one at Elitch and was tempted to try it. It had been down though, for an extended time, and when it opened that afternoon it might've been for the first time, I'm not sure. Anyway, the line was long and loading was slow. So, no.
These park models have a sturdier look to em, don't have those wires, and use the new back to back trains. The idea that they're counting it as a coaster makes me laugh out loud. Nobody will be fooled by that.
"Looping Dragon joins the park’s Golden Kingdom section, which is home to the world’s tallest and fastest drop ride, Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom, -OR- the world’s tallest and fastest roller coaster, Kingda Ka. But not both at the same time."
There. Fixed that for 'em.
When did dragons come to Africa? Their theming/ride placement is so effed up its laughable. Who pays these people?
Wrong continent :) . Golden Kingdom is Asian. Bangladesh, Nepal, etc..
At least, that's how I perceive it.
Zumanjaro sounds African to me, but Kingda Ka sounds Asian. But this isn't BGT, so who really knows/cares?
Currently, the only live dragons are across the Narrow Sea. We'll have to wait probably another year before we see what happens next. Perhaps if you read the books... but no spoilers.
You, sir, are wrong. I have 2 living, breathing dragons in my living room right now.
This has to be the greatest idea ever. By buying a traveling carnival "coaster," now they can buy one ride, and have a "new" coaster every year at the various parks. Next year, Magic Mountain will have another NEW COASTER. Even though Great Adventure will be losing one on its coaster count, no one will care since the ride is just one you can find at any carnival across the country! I wish I could have thought of that.
They already had this. It was unofficially called the "ride rotation program" back in the late 80's? They bought a bunch of rides and just moved them around parks year to year in order to have something new to advertise. It seemed like a good idea but maybe it wasn't actually cost effective?

Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."
I thought this addition was unacceptable. So I took the time to make a petition against this ride. Please check out my petition https://www.change.org/p/six-flags-great-adventure-don-t-give-us-looping-dragon
Instead of me explaining what I think we need instead, just please read the petition, and if you agree, sign it and share it with your friends please :)
