Six Flags Great Adventure announces El Toro for 2006

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Six Flags Great Adventure has announced El Toro for 2006. The out-and-back wood coaster will be 181 feet tall with a 176-foot drop and top speed of 70 mph.

Read the press release from Six Flags.

Tallest, Steepest, Fastest

Son Of Beast would still be the tallest and fastest, wouldn't it? 215 ft. drop and 78mph.

Yes. The only record El Toro is taking is "steepest drop".
Not to mention it is the only Intamin Pre-Fab in the states, the only Woody SFI is adding next year, and the only coaster called 'El Toro'.

I'm sure there are marketing angles there some where ;).

Um, has no one noticed that this ultra "unique" name is the same as another ride in Chicago? Does it really take a simple change of language to fool you guys?

Vous ĂȘtes tous sourd-muet

You're saying that "El Toro" is the same as "Raging Bull?"

"El Toro" means "The Bull" (correct?)

"Raging Bull" and "The Bull" are different names. Not to mention "The Bull" isn't even NAMED "The Bull". It's named "El Toro". It's like you're saying Scream! and Great American Scream Machine are the same. They are not and neither are "El Toro" and "Raging Bull".

But if they called it Superman: The Hills, everyone would be screaming that it's a Superman ride, and why can't Six Flags come up with an original name. And there's even LESS in common in that name as there is with The Bull vs. Raging Bull. And yes, I do say that Scream and Great American Scream Machine are basically the same name.

You're telling me that The Batman and Raging Batman wouldn't get a completely different reaction?

Yes but Batman has been used to death. There are Batman shows and rides at many of the Six Flags parks. The same thing can be said about Superman.

I don't know I guess it's just perception. When I see "El Toro" I don't think "Raging Bull".

Anyway, wouldn't it be "Batman: The Rage"? ;)

You'd be suprised at how many people think 'La Vibora' is highly original...

I wonder if the tag line will be 'From the makers of Kingda Ka...'

For their sake, I hope not ;). At least they knew to follow up a downtime problem with something that seems to be proven.;)*** This post was edited by TeknoScorpion 10/2/2005 3:37:56 AM ***

here's an idea....

has SFGA ever thought about learning how to operate what they have WELL, before they add ANOTHER new coaster? Good grief, they still send loaded trains as the first train out on Kingda Ka when it reopens after closing for a maintenance issue. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT???
