Six Flags Great Adventure has announced El Toro for 2006. The out-and-back wood coaster will be 181 feet tall with a 176-foot drop and top speed of 70 mph.
Read the press release from Six Flags.
Keep up the good job Six Flags. It's Playtime!
It looks like a neat ride. I want to see how the trains work, though. :)

I hate to say this escher26, but the laugh is on you. Obviously you people know nothing about Great Adventure. 2005 was obviously their comeback. They cleaned, landscaped, and themed their park (parts of it). They gave some rides paint jobs and guess what? As of the 2005 season ROLLING THUNDER HAS BEEN RACING! It's been racing all season and they plan on keeping it that. Of course sometimes it wont race cuz one side will break down lol. But they dont treat RT like smack either. It will probably recieve a paint job very soon. Plaza del Carnaval will feature El Toro, Rolling Thunder, a Mexican eatery called La Cocina, and a family ride. It's small but every little thing counts. Now we're all hoping that Movie Town will recieve the next face lift. There's many improvements seen around GA so why dont you doubters take a look and see for yourselves at www.amusementpics.com?
Did you all notice the error in the long layout picture shot? Keep looking... YUP! That's right! There are TWO TRAINS running on Rolling Thunder! Now since when have you ever known Six Flags to run both sides of a racing coaster AT TTHE SAME TIME?
And to think that we can all share the same space in time. . .at our next ERT session. We can talk laterals, inversions, trick track, and ride times, with impunity. Some of us can even eat decadent and voluminous amounts of funnel cakes, deep-fried cheesecake and cheese-on-a-stick without having to worry about being judged unfairly by others. After all, we wrote the book on fanny packs. . .
But other temptations and joys await as well. . .
The bonding, the comraderie, the notion that maybe, just maybe, one day, I'll be able to get stapled in the back seat, maybe on EL TORO, perhaps while taking a VOYAGE, with the likes of Mamoosh, Tiggerman or Tekno.
I think that, despite our differences, we should all celebrate the joy, the exhiliration, the sheer sensationalism of being a. . .COASTERBUZZER. . .
But, seriously, folks, I'd like to think that this will usher in a whole new era of MONSTROUS WOODEN COASTERS. . .
It looks like it will be a corker of a ride to be sure!!!
Giant Wooden Behemoths. . .With Breath-Snarling First Drops. . .
EL TORO. . .THE BULL. . .TOO KEWL FOR SCHOOL. . .
This new wood is going to be, like, so wonkin' wooooody. . .

Although SFGAdv did steel the record from CP, I have to ask..
...wood Cedar Point want to tackle the record back, when the park needs more family-friendly attractions?
(sorry.. I'm a sucker for puns and there was no way I could resist :) )
Dude, we got a challenger to rollergator for most/best usage of puns in a single post! It's a battle royale! Not bad dannerman, a good piece of work.
Although, it won't happen, CP's seen what happened just down the road when you try and break records with a wooden coaster ... not saying they won't get one, just it won't break any major records (although being Cedar Point, they'll find some kooky off the wall record no one cares about [first double-twisting impulse anyone?] so they can market that angle still).
