SFA really doensn't need a better waterpark.

AB, yes they do already have a waterpark, but it's small in comparison with other waterparks, and it's outdated. Many of the slides go back to Wild World, and there aren't that many either making for long lines. A&V, you may not patronize waterparks, but they do need a new waterpark, bad. If you have been to either SFGadv. or SFWOA and seen their Hurricane Harbours, you'd understand why Paradise Island needs to go, or should be updated. Don't feel threatened by a waterpark. It's only a prediction, not a rumor. Anything could happen by next year.

A&V does have a really good poin but you are right too. A waterpark (especially on a hot day) would really shorten the lines for coaster lovers like myself who dont really give a crap about waterparks. :)

wild world? i thought it was Adventure World.

AB: it started out Wild World, then Adventure World, now SFA. Oh and the "royal flush" is this type of waterslide where you ride around the sides of a bowl until you drop down a hole in the center; kinda like a toliet hence the "flush". :)

as far as I know the original site plan for SFA does not include the addition of a water park, they do however have at least one water ride of undetermined nature planned that will occupy at least 2 acres.personally I think they may just may add at least another coaster next season, after all why then are they expanding the batwing midway?
i know about the royal flush. only because i saw the worlds best thrill and water parks show. the hting about ace was a joke :)

here is the list of planned attractions for SFA,keep in mind there is no mention of a water park expansion on this list.

1-attraction#36 -a new ride.the nature of this ride is presently undetermined.
2-attraction #37-a stand-up coaster which will be approximately 140 ft tall and 3000 ft in length.3attraction#39- a steel coaster approximately 200 ft tall 3,500 ft in length.4attraction#40-a runaway car ride approximately 80 ft tall and 1300 ft in length.attraction#43-a water ride of an undetermined nature which will occupy at least 2+acres of land area.attraction#44-a ferris wheel which will have dimensions of approxamately 120 ft in height,120 ftin length and 20 ft in width.
there you have it as you can see by the list ther is certainly no mention of water park expansion plans, the only ride that comes even close to that is attraction#43.and I don't really think that 2 acres would be a large enough improvement of the exsisting water park. that's just my opinion though.we'll see what we get next season.
Where'd you get that list?

I have a copy of the list from last year's request by SFA to the prince george's county planning board regarding the approval of construction for batwing.you can try using the search command to find the coasterbuzz news article entitled six flags america requests approval of stand-up and flying dutchman coasters.in that article there should be a link to the PG county planning board website.
Right and the Stand-up got subsitiuted with Batwing. That suggests to me that the "site plan" is dynamic and can be adjusted. I think HH is in the sights. But, we'll see.

you never know, but I doubt that they will expand the water park. if they really wanted to do that they probably would have done it by now.I think they will continue building coasters because coasters draw in a much greater crowd then a water park expansion would.I think SFA management realizes this and that's why they have been building at least one new coaster each year.
Like I said before, don't feel threatened by a waterpark expansion (if it happens). Try to remember what's good for the park, and not for you personally. I strongly disagree that a waterpark expansion wouldn't bring in big crowds. Have you ever noticed the amount of people over at Paradise Island on a hot day? If we had a waterpark as good as the one at Dorney Park, I would definitely spend more time there.

we just have to wait and see,a good way to find out would be to check SFA's whats new page on thier website I'd say around mid january or early february.it's interesting how a trip report has turned in to such a lively debate over the new ride planned for SFA's 2002 season.
