BATWING FAN SFA: Hopefully thats the case. SFA was doing so good with all the additions when it first turned into a SF park then everything seemed to slow down so bad. I was hoping that it could've been the next "major" SF parks. But I do hope we get something big in the next couple of years.
Ok, I wasn't neccesarily complaining that it was used before at another park, but whats wrong with people these days, couldn't they introduce it with something that hasn't been used? Its fine that they use it, they probally need it. Now...on with life people!

I'm glad to hear SFA is getting a Tornado...and better yet, supposedly stepping up their guest services...but the skeptical side of me would sooner drive to Holiday World for their Tornado and guest services. Haven't been to SFA since 2003, and I have yet to decide whether or not I will be visiting at all this year.

SFA topics always turn into this. . .

I say these water park expansions are great. Most of you like them because they will increase attendance and draw people away from coasters, but I will be right there with the masses sliding down the slides. Water parks are fun. . .

Mooshy sed: "...enhanced Guest services...
So they'll actually have some for a change!"

:) Let's just call them "guest services" and let the customer decide about the *enhanced* part...;)

It's so refreshing to watch fanboys slap each other around and nitpick at each OTHER instead of whining about a Tornado.

Almost brings a tear to my eye.

I hear ya Neogeo Now of course they were doing rather well in the beginning & probably had big plans for the park which have since been shoved aside because of the financial mess the company has found itself in over the past few years.

SFI in a desperate attempt at turning a profit has been so focused only on it's big money making parks recently that in the process they seemed to have forgotten about the smaller parks, most of which do have potential but only if SFI actually puts forth the money & effort needed to make that a reality.

Back on topic:anyone willing to wager which of the two slides will be completed first? my money's on Bahama Blast at this point because just the structure of Tornado requires quite a while to put up,also any word on which two coasters are supposedly getting new paint yet?man I wish we had some construction pics already.

If you own a car and are in the rt. 214 area, then I would imagine that both slides would be pretty visible since the waterpark is at the front of the park. Of course that depends on which stage of construction they are in. The Tornado slide is HUGE, based on what I saw at SFNE.
Well opening day is only 6 weeks from now :) I guess it'll have to wait til then unless someone is able to get some pics & post them online somewhere.
that a great idea but what a bout the great coaster they took down to put up the superman ride shock wave one the best rides they had also the sky whirl a family relaxing ride or cajun cliff hanger some of the great rides i would rather see in operating in stead of just the water park or i would like to see these rides back in operation and the water park the park has a lot of land to do both
Alfredo, there is something that is used quite often in the English language...It's called punctuation and capitalization. Try it sometime. It makes your nonsensical post easier to read - and figure out that you are referring to a completely different park than is mentioned in this news item.

This is a news item for Six Flags America (outside Washington DC), not Six Flags Great America (outside Chicago)...

That being said, SFGAm removed Shockwave due to (among other things) low ridership and the coaster has been removed from the "storage area", sent to a scrapyard and "shredded" into mangled pieces. As for Sky Whirl, it was becoming a maintenance nightmare because replacement parts were no longer available - parts needed to be custom made, which meant they were very expensive. And finally, Cajun Cliffhanger was removed due to the lawsuit and its' settlement from when a part of a girl's toe was ripped off.
