February 24th huh? it looks like I was off by about 10 days because I was predicting feb.15 based on their past history of announcements....let the speculation begin.
...me, I'm guessing at the very least they install a ProSlide Tornado,...most likely they'll also install at least one other slide and rename/retheme the water park into a Hurricane Harbor park,... and if we're really lucky, they'll redo most all of the slides and install at least three new slide complexes (body slide tower, family raft ride, and Tornado?)...
Guess it's all speculations anyways...
If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.
As is a tornado slide takes up considerable space you know but I'd rather they take some of the older stuff out to make way for the new slides any day(cough poland springs plunge cough cough).
If they take that approach they can also remove that stupid balloon ferris wheel while they're at it,hardly anyone rides that thing at all....too bad they're probably not relocating the waterpark entirely which would free up that land for expansion because nantucket/olde boston can really use some more rides to liven up that side of the park if you ask me.
Of course there's a downside to that approach however & that's the need for the additional parking that the new additions/expansion may generate,if attendance proves to be high & the weather cooperates (unlike it did in 03 when PBR debutted)then they're gonna need all that extra space for parking & perhaps we'll finally see them open the west entrance to the lot as well.
Anyone willing to speculate on wether we'll see any additions in 06? I mean if the waterpark expansion proves successful & draws an increase in crowds then why quit when the park is ahead? if they're able to ride the "wave" of success generated in 05 into 06 then maybe we'll see something like a small flat in 06....otherwise we'll be waiting til 07 for the next major addition to be made.
I really don't see the park building over the parking lot. Last year there were several days when even most of the far west parking lot was nearly filled and I see that last parking lot being filled even more this year, weather permiting. I'd say look to the north and northwest of the wavepool as to where new additions will go, unless of course they just decide to remove some current slides...but if that was happening, I'd suspect we'd see them going somewhere else.
As for the future, well, take this for what you may, but Sam Marks (head of the Coaster Zombies and usually fairly reliable for information given his close links to the park) noted over on rec.roller-coaster that the park has "something else they're working on that will probably please the coaster enthusiasts" and that "it has to do with bettering the efficiency of one of their coasters." My guess would be that it has something to do with Batwing, but since Sam frequents these boards, I'll let him comment on it himself.
I still want to see some of the coasters get paint jobs, namely Wild One with its many replaced and now bair wood supports, Mind Eraser, and possibly Batwing for it's splochy look. I'd also like to see trams return to the parking lot, it's a LONG walk when you have to walk from that far western lot. As for rides, we could use a few new extream flats...a Top Spin (though I'm guessing we lost the first to SFDL because the experience would be to close to Iron Eagle), a Frisbee, possibly a dark ride, maybe the return of the Enterprise ride across from Iron Eagle? I mean, a nice Beemer (standup, floorless, sitdown...whatever) would be nice, but some flats and some themeing around Joker's Jinx, Superman, and Batwing would really take some of the strain off some of the longer lines.
If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.
The new queue arrangement in supe's station has only made things worse & I don't even want to think of how bad it'd be on Wild one if they were to implement it.
I certainly hope they'll improve Batwing's efficiency, near the end of the season they did get it running two trains....now if they can get both stations & all three trains running as well as new paint for all steel coasters(except Two face)then I'll certainly be pleased with that.
Now assuming that the waterpark is a big hit it should definitely make for shorter lines on most coasters....I may not be too fond of the waterpark myself but the fewer peeps in line for supes & Batwing the better cuz it means more laps with less waiting for me.

I can't recall where I heard it but WO & JJ might recieve the same queue treatment that superman recieved, all I can say about it is for the love of god please don't do it.
what are you talking about?? the superman que as it is now doesn't get clogged up by people waiting for the back row.... they plan to hopefully remove enough que rails in Wild One and Jokers Jinx ques so that all airgates are easily accessable.
The ride ops shouldn't have to spend their time screaming at the guests to keep the line moving. but you probably liked that.....

Your kidding right? You honestly feel the remove of the last rail made things worst?
I was really getting tired of having to fight 15 rows of people to get to the front row. I don't see this as anything but an improvement and hope they extend it to other rides.
A day at the park is what you make it!
Anyhow back to the waterpark:anyone think they may create a second entrance down by coyote creek? if the expansion calls for the new additions to be made behind monsoon lagoon & Mind eraser then it would in effect expand the water park more adjacent to coyote creek & that may be a good reason to finally start on a path in that area, which can also be linked to gotham city in the future.

Don't hold your breath, the stream that flows thru behind the Mind Eraser is considered a protected area, and it cannot be touched. Another bridge? Maybe, but the expansion isn't going that way, at least this years expansion isn't.....

All I can potentially see is the expansion going over into the parking lot next to tahitti twister,or into nantucket but other than that the only other thing they could do is move the whole waterpark behind Batwing & superman & of course we all know that isn't gonna happen now don't we?
One other option of course is to just bulldoze all the existing slides & build new waterpark attractions in their place.

^OK then you're so smart so then where exactly is it supposed to go huh?
I'm telling you what I'm allowed to tell you, which isn't much. You'll know everything when they announce.
There's no need to get upset.

Sam A. Mark: you seem to know alot! If you are allowed to say....Is SFA 'just' getting slides (if any)? And how soon will SFA install a coaster / flat ride? I understand that you dont have to say anything....but a little hint wont hurt (I guess)

What I can tell you is that the park can install flat rides whenever it likes, just like water slides, they're considered portable rides, and thus they do not need a public hearing to approve their installation.
During my visit there a few weeks ago (To begin work on a fall coaster enthusiast event) it was apparent that things were happening, and the transformation was underway, however the park asked that I not divulge details. So out of respect for the parks wishes, I can't tell ya, or hint at what's up.
As far as the future goes, there's no telling what is gonna happen. Hopefully the heavy crowds in late 04 in orlando will translate to a better attendance at regional parks, and all the parks will emerge from the monetary funk they've been in.

Let's not forget this is SF were talking about here so there's not much of a chance that financially things will improve,CF & Paramount had minor increases last year while the attendnace decline for SF continues on but who's to say that this year might turn things around for them?
