Two months after Jazzland Theme Park went into bankruptcy, the country's largest regional theme park operator stepped in Monday with an offer to take over the operations of the park and invest $25 million in it over the next three years. Oklahoma City-based Six Flags, becomes the second bidder for the park and the first major amusement park operator to express interest. The other bidder is a little known Florida firm called WAC International.

"PLEASE SIX FLAGS! Don't clone B-TDK! Keep it original and build a new custom B&M."
Yeah, let's all cry about it if they build a clone of ride that is HUNDREDS OF MILES AWAY!!! Some people...
(If that was supposed to be a joke, it wasn't funny.)
"New Orleans is not really a family destination and for those who do go there, theme parks are not the attraction."
None of Louisiana is to me, and I live there. Yeah, it is a great place if you like to fish or hunt, but if you don't, there's nothing to do. And personally, I don't like New Orleans, to me it's a really trashy place...yeah it's got history but that's it.

Sorry, I'm having a bad day...
The real question is, who will SF contact *for* the rides. They are pissed off with Vekoma because of Bat-Flight and Delay-Ja Vu. Not really happy with Intamin over the V2 issues (though that may change with Goliath). No one's heard from Giovanola in a minute. And while Premier has done some nice retofits, I'm sure there is some concern based on the problems with Poltergeist and Batman:The Chiller.
Personally, Methinks Jazzland would be a GREAT place for an ArrowBATic-al debut!

Besides, if we were really shutting down people we disagreed with, would Jeremy (2Hostyl) still be around? :) I think not. - Jeff 1/24/02
I think SF still has viable coaster options. Giovanola is DYING to build another coaster in the US, Intamin's junior hyper and hyper will always be a park pleaser, Arrow's BATic and other upcoming innovations could help the park bigtime, and dont forget about that Morgan hyper that was supposed to go to SFM. They have already purchased it and it would be very simple to move the parts from Mexico City to New Orleans. I think they would be better off adding a looper like B:TDK rather than a hyper style right off the bat. Remember, this is my jobbie-job, my mind is always thinking about this stuff :)
I think the NBA team will help the already great tourist town be even better and draw more of a regional audience, right up Six Flags alley. NO has a wonderful mystique about it that will draw in visitors year after year. Oh, and having a Six Flags caliber park will help out tremendously. Since the GP in the New Orleans area has been coaster hornswaggled two years in a row, any new coaster will help the park on the road to PR recovery.

I agree with you, Shy One... New Orleans and LA has never struck me as a place I would want to visit much less with a family... especially when the Texas parks aren't terribly far away.
It'll be another mediocre SF park.
This isn't a done deal though is it? Doesn't the small company out of Florida still have a shot at getting the park. I'd prefer it if they got it over Six Flags.
Of course I'm usually the kind of guy that will want to eat at a mom and pa owned diner downtown then a McDonald's but that's just me.

Yeah, but wasn't that Six Flag's fault for breaking the height restricion?
Anyway, I agree with you about the ArrowBattic. Great idea.
