Six arrested after fight at Cedar Point

Six people, including a 41-year-old Elyria woman, were arrested Sunday after a fight involving as many as 15 people broke out near a roller coaster at Cedar Point, police say.

Having ridden the Olympia Looping after spending the evening at Oktoberfest in Munich, I can vouch that reasonable adults are able to handle themselves. The rides wouldn't stay open later than the beer tents otherwise (or be located near each other).

I can also vouch that unreasonable adults exist everywhere, with or without alcohol.

They were selling beer in the 1970's. I remember the trash cans full of partial cups of beer being deposited at ride entrances, and the swarm of bees congregating there

I guess I don’t remember beer being sold in my home park (Worlds of Fun) in my younger years?

I know Six flags has sold it for a long time. But their selection and the number of booths they sell it at have increased for sure.

Why are you quoting the previous post? We can all see what you're responding to. That's why posts appear in chronological order.

Alcohol is Satanic, even says so in the Bible. :)

I mean, if you're into fiction.

Fiction or not, the Bible doesn't say that.

Jesus was a big fan of wine, and I'm not gonna tell him he's wrong.

Hi

I think in the 80's, while Cedar Point did sell beer, it was much more limited as to where it was sold and where you could drink. I seem to remember it only being at the front of the park and not at every stand.

Are we sure a “strong odor of intoxicants” necessarily means alcohol?

I'm paraphrasing what I heard a standup comic say years ago: His first miracle was all about keeping the party going.

RCMAC, true. That's not explained. And along with the "younger people are drinking less" they're also getting high a lot more.

Proverbs 20:1

1 Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise.

Ephesians 5:18

18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit,

Be filled with the Spirit and not Satanic juice at parks!

Blessed are the cheesemakers.

I can’t tell if you’re being serious or not, but those verses never say alcohol is inherently bad. Abusing it (being led astray by it and getting drunk on it) is. If alcohol itself was Satanic, Jesus wouldn’t have had it. It’s often misinterpreted, much like the commonly misquoted “money is the root of all evil.” It’s not, the love of it is.

Only 3 ounces? (Ohio is 2.5)
I would guess 3 stands a decent chance to pass there in Florida, but the one where the government agrees to stay out of women’s health issues? Not so sure.
Ohio voters had several chances to get marijuana right, at one time turning down the issue that pre-determined who and how many would be allowed to grow, develop, and process. That short list of ten producers included people like Nick Lachey of Cincinnati. Yes, that Nick Lachey. Smart Ohioans, including myself, turned that one down with the thought that the market should be open for all to explore and develop.
But once the bill (carefully entitled An Act to Control and Regulate Adult Use Cannabis) was approved by voters it still took a while for the dispensaries to get approval to sell for recreational use. Ohio is a red state and lawmakers insisted that regulations be put in place to control the industry as much as possible. We finally opened in early August but with high prices and multiple fees and taxes. People I know still drive to Michigan to shop to keep it cheaper.
So anyway, that leads me to CP. On my last visit to the park my keen nose and eyes detected many park visitors using vapes, some more discreetly that others. The park has a posted policy against its use, but that would be difficult to crack-down on especially with alcohol for sale on every corner and in use everywhere. Which is why these people, who I think were likely high as hell, were trespassed out and let go. No one went to jail, even for the assault.

I say do whatever makes you happy, as long as it don't hurt you or others. I am an avid follower of The Golden Rule, which can be found in almost all religions- Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Connecting that to alcohol consumption, if you find that it is hard to treat others with respect when you drink alcohol, don't drink it, or don't drink in public.

Why do we have to involve Jesus in this? Do unto others. Period. I feel very strongly about this.

Alcohol is the Devil's juice, squeezed from the souls of those burning in Hell, made so that Satan can control you. It makes you do horrific, sinful things, and to what end? Simply to fill a void? What kind of void are you trying to fill with liquor that couldn't be filled by Jesus?

Choose the right filling!
