Silver Bullet model

Other than the lift it doesn't look like Silver Bullet will interact with Jaguar much as all. My guess for the shallow drop is two-fold:

1] it allows the paddlewheel to operate
2] it allows for a loop exit that's high enough for trains to safely fly over walkways.

3. This particular design could have been designed using terrain at another park?

That's really stretching it a bit but I thought I would throw out this idea as it does look a bit strange and I do remember at one point there was a rumor going around about another Cedar Fair park getting a B&M inverted years ago. I don't believe it though.

Good point, Sean...I didn't consider that option.

Just a question from the new tutorial that discusses speed: How come you don't just use "reactor" to model the speed of the coaster? Granted I have very limited knowledge of 3dstudio - I have just played around with it a little - but wouldn't reactor be able to model the motion of the train?

Thanks

I have played with reactor a *little bit* but I don't believe it can calculate physics with an object that is constrained to a path (at least I don't think so). Plus, with the program I wrote, I can tell it where a lift is, where the brakes are, and whatnot, so that the entire coaster can run itself.

Sean, I can't believe you're even bringing up that #3 point... lol. The ride was obviously specifically designed to fit into KBF, it weaves and cuts it's way through 4 or 5 attractions. They're most likely trying to emphesize the flying sensation as with what was seen on Talon, this is just alot moreso ;) . Also keep in mind all of CA's nutty inspectors (DOSH for the most part) that KBF had to please with the design. I'm suprised they got away with having that much of the ride over walkways, it's probably got the most track over walkways of any invert. Also note that the vehicles will hang another 8 feet below the track, so in reality you're getting closer to about 10-15 feet of ground clearance in most places (except of course the lake). Moosh nailed it with the 2 explainations, I've heard that they want to have Walter K back up and running in early 2005.
Gosh, I sure wish I could afford this program and even try to do something somewhat close to what you're doing. You're truly a master at this and I would like to thank you for always continuing to design these and now show us how you do it. Keep up the great work and i'll be at your site everyday checking everything out!

If you really want to just mess around with 3dstudio, you can download a 30 day free trial from the developer. http://www.discreet.com/ Haven't downloaded it, so I am not sure what is included in the trial. - Also, I am assuming that it is a large download. Just be aware that it is going to take you more than 30 days to figure out how to do much with this program as it has a large learning curve. But after messing around with the program you will really appreciate the amount of work that goes into his models. *** Edited 12/13/2003 10:06:46 PM UTC by jpb***
FYI, I am now done with Silver Bullet and just have the animation to do now.... I added a new page for Silver Bullet to BNP with many pictures of the final model! It makes it easier to see how it interacts with Jaguar and it's placement within the park - check them out:

Wow, this is clearly your best work yet. Great job, can't wait till you have time to go back and finish up the tutorials.

Good Lord....

All I can say is WOW. That is beyond impressive. Excellent work as always, it looks more than realistic, if that's possible! Congratulations on another project well done!!

See you at No-Coaster Con.

Nice job, Keith. Now would you get off your ass, and do that Timberhawk animation that you have been promising me? ;)

Rob - who says Joe didn't put me up to that. It's all me, baby.

Those images are amazing... very cool.

Did you include the stagecoach trail in any of them? I am interested to see how Silver Bullet will interact with that.

Knotts Halloween Haunt- Everyone has to go sometime....

I would call it a “smashing job!” but seeing how this is a B&M coaster and not Intamin, the remark is hardly appropriate for the occasion. Perhaps what amazes me most about this animation is the tremendous amount of respect young Keith has for the indigenous tribes that inhibit the Indian Trails section of the park…notice the patterns on their primitive dwellings, each one is completely authentic and a true testament to his ability to capture detail as well as the tremendous respect he has for Native Americans and indeed, all peoples of this great planet Earth.
Great job Keith. Another one of your masterpieces that someone never realized the potential in. Judging from the way the ride will interact with the park and the other rides, Silver Bullet kinda junks up the place with all those damn supports. Just my opinion.

Happiness is like peeing your pants. Everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth. Trip pics are here: http://www.pbase.com/jhbd99.
Beautiful work man...I'm not familiar with KBF and I never realized how much this ride interacts with the rest of the park/midways before looking at those renderings. Can't wait for the animation.

Keith about the tutorials, they should be a bit more specific, because some people dont know where to find certain things, and how to do this and that. just a suggestion. but good work on the silver bullter model, i myself was working on the storm runner.

Superman, learn the program a bit, it isn't his job to tell you down to the keystroke what to do so you can immitate him... (trying to be polite). At least he finally posted SOME SORT of tutorial ;).

Exactly, Rctycoon2k. You can expect to be spoonfed every single detail on how to make an animation by someone who taught themselves how to do it. He's just giving you some basic ground "rules" on how to go about making a coaster one way (since, like he always says, there are no "right ways" to make them).

Try some things out, and see what works!

PS - Three words, Keith...

1.) Best
2.) Renderings
3.) Ever

OMG I have a new sig!!!
Well i have learned the program, and i wasnt directing the question just for me, it's for people who dont know and continue to ask me, i was just putting in a simple suggestion thats all. im not saying he has to, but a little more information wouldnt hurt would it?

And yes their models are amazing :-) *** Edited 1/11/2004 5:20:00 AM UTC by Superman The Speed***
