Shorter Pages

Have you thought about making the default for number of posts per page shorter or building a feature into POP? Unless you consider that bloat, which I don't, considering that probably 90% of other bulletin boards feature it. (Then again, 90% of other BBs also offer avatars, but you consider that bloat.)

I think 40 or however it is limited is too long. I think it should be cut down to 20 or so. For some reason, shorter pages hold my attention longer.

I can set it to whatever I want. It's not hard coded.

I think that I like having 40 posts a page is very good. It helps me know which posts to read , and which ones to skip(somehow). I also want to give props to Jeff for the setup of these forums. On all those other sites , the forums confuse me with all their little things(emoticons, colors, side pictures, small text,ect.).

Bodysurfing. More Fun than any coaster!

I'll second that, this forum is very easy to navigate and browse. :)

Whenever you can ride a roller coaster and experience 15 spots of intense airtime, you know you're on a good coaster. (see: Phoenix)

If it were shorter, you'd see the same complaints you see about the Games site. "My topic got bumped to the second page before anybody got to see it."

I meant topic pages, not forum pages.

I like 40. A lot. The most annoying thing I've ever seen on a bulletin board is when the per-page number is something ridiculously low. If there are 15 messages in a topic, I don't need 3 pages to view it.

May the Schwarz be with you.

Perhaps the number of messages per page ought to be dynamic, based not only on the number of messages in a thread, but the *length* of those messages......

Just a thought...

I personally like the 40 per page rule...it makes it easier to keep track of the thread and where you are in it. Rideman's idea of making the page breaks dynamic would be very confusing

I'm just thinking about how these threads that Moosh and his posse jump on suddenly get lots of really short pages because of all the one-liners...
