Shockwave SFGAm What's the deal?

How about this:
What if Shockwave was closed because they are preparing to build the new ride "within" SW's structure, and don't want to operate SW since its now a "hard hat" area and thats why the ride has been winterized.

I don't know what they are doing

Why does this reoccuring thread remind me of a WHITESNAKE song. lol

Naw, Shockwave is probably not going. It looks like what's going is East River Crawler. With that, Cajun Cliffhanger, and Power Dive; I think we're looking at a coaster in side by side with Batman. This could look pretty cool by the time it's done.
So, nobody knows why it is down for sure? Its been down for a long time and I think that either they are taking it down, fixing something, or like what john peck said, they are building a ride within the structure. Something HAS to be going on there...

Coaster Counter: 85+...I need to sit down and figure it out :)

The reason it initially closed is due to a rumored accident on 8/3/02. The wheel assembly of the front car on the blue train broke in the 3rd loop. The train was E-Stopped on the mid-course. No one was hurt. There is also a picture ( http://coasterworlds.cwfwrestlingonline.com/Hidden/Shockwave1.jpg ) taken a few days later showing all three trains on the transfer with blue missing the front 2 cars. That seems to support that rumor. Since then, all the trains have been completly removed. Since if that were true, they should have been able to resume operation soon afterwords with the red and yellow trains, I suspect something else is up. Either Removal or an intertwining ride. I think removal is more likely.

well if something was wrong with the blue train, then that would explain why it was removed as was noted in several accounts around Aug. 11. last I heard, red and yellow were still there, just sitting on the maintence tracks.

Does anyone remember the Concorde plane that went down in Paris? Shortly after the accident, all Concode planes were taken out of action- to be inspected...

shockwave isnt going anywhere. there is no way that at the last moment, late summer, theyd decide in lieu of Whizzer to remove it. the sheer logisitics involved in a coaster removal require months, if not a whole year's planning. so unless they strip it down for scrap only, Shockwave isnt going anywhere....and from what ive heard, its one of the smoother Arrow multi-inversions (at least thats what ive been told) and its a very popular ride there at SFGam, so i dont think its going anywhere....moving on :)

Well, it's not exactly popular or smooth, but it has it's fans. :) If Shockwave has already ran it's last train, the I think we're seeing a Drachen Fire: Part 2. The ride could be SBNO until the park finds some use for it, be it a buyer, repairs, or scrap...

Shockwave is NOT smooth. Or popular. Period.

There is another theory about a non-running Shockwave. Maybe the park is hurting for staff, and with the accident that occurred in August they decided to remove the trains and begin the off-season maintenance of the trains. this way they can also decide what they want to do with the damn ride.
