Shockwave question

For anyone who has been by the park after 11/4, what's the update on Shockwave? Is it completely dismantled from what you can see?

From what I remember somebody driving by said it has been completely deconstructed!

Yay!
Ok- now all they have to do is melt it, and then I'll be happy.

I'm glad other people hate it. I rode GASM and have no desire to ride another Arrow as long as I live (except the 4D).

Arrow are generally smooth these days though, based on reviews of Tenesse Tornado. Their wild mice are the best wild mice out of the many companies that make them imo - less brakes than other models, rapid lift hill, look great, etc.

Some of their older rides, though, i agree, are fairly unrideable by today's standards, although in their day were great.

It's completely deconstructed? WOW that was fast. Does anyone know if they are doing anything for S:UF i.e. pour footers? I don't think many people know but for those that might know please tell. Thanks.

I recently rode the GASM at SFGAdv, and they had the trims after the first loop off, and it was really well ,they had installed new harnest on the trains ,and they wherent painfull. If you people think that these old Arrow loopers are rough then you need to get on a Togo, or belive it or not Schwarzkopf rides... or anyone remember premeir rides with the shoulder harnest?, I think if the coaster are rough the parks arent trying hard enough or they are doing something better which is not take care of that at all and get rid of them, if the parks are trying ,well then good, becuase not only do I love coaster, but I hate to see them go.... I think it was way too soon for any of the Arrow loopers to be taken down, but in the Shock Waves case it was just in the way, and life go's on, whoever dident or dont like them, that is ur opion , but mine is that they are still good ride's. I cant wait to see what people are calling the B&M coaster 10 yrs from now.

Actually, Iron Wolf is 12 years old and I think it is an awesome a$$ ride. Batman the ride at SFGAm is 10 years old and it is also a kick a$$ ride. Maybe in 15-20 years it'll be different, but for now, they are aging great!

i just drove by today and from what i could see the loop is still up but everything else is pretty much done.

Between Shoackwave and IW as far as which one I could have rode and re rode. I would take Shockwave any day.

IW is by far the brutalists Ear basher I have ever rode.

And mind you this includes Viper at Great Adv.

Agreed MagnumForce, IMO IW is a death trap, everytime I ride the dang thing it bangs my head around and hurts my ears. For some reason Shock Wave never did this to me, I would have much rather seen IW or (you guys are gonna hate me for this one) B:TR go then the wonderfull masterpiece, Shock Wave ;-).

I wish that a person would come by with a truckful of dynomite, place at least 100 dynomite in each of Shockwave's head-slamming whiplash banging so-called "cork-screws" and blast them out one by one. Then, I want a person to come by with 10 tons of acid and pour it on the rest of the ride, and make crowds upon crowds of people laugh as they watch it rust and slowly.. die. Then, I hope they use the remaining pieces of steel crap to make steel toilets. The end.

I love Shockwave, but Iron Wolf is hella smoother- hands down. I could ride that thing all day. On the last day of the season, we got a few front row rides without having to get off, let me tell you, this ride is forceful. The power is just incredible. I personally think its the best coaster in the park.

RollerJunkie, Why do you have so much anger towards a roller coaster?

I didn't like Shockwave at first, but grew to love it. Too bad they closed it without giving us a last ride.

Gee, how mature. I can't stand the thought of this to any coaster!

To anyone who misses Shockwave, get into a car, take a bus, or fly, and travel to Jackson New Jersey next spring. That way, you can ride Shockwaves larger twin, and ride the B&M flyer too. Sorry, I had to rub it in.

Dude, you're getting an Intamin!
I still wonder why SFGAd kept GASM and simply tore up some Parking lot for S:UF and SFGAM riped down SW to put up S:UF. I mean, GASM is just as unpopular as SW and never has a line. I really wish that SFGAm had just riped up some parking lot over by the go carts and put S:UF there, I think that would have looked awesome and we still could have kept SW. But oh well, a new flyer is a new flyer..

As of Sunday 11/17/02 - the only thing left standing is the first vertical loop. I believe the station is still there as well. All lift hill structure is gone.

Another thing B&M supports are now in the front parking lot by Shockwave I have some pictures of the lifthill supports coming down from last Friday. It went down quick.
