Shaggy's dark ride quote quiz....

Mamoosh,

I think A is Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

I'll post answers after Shaggy does. But some of you have been correct.

mOOSH

Mamoosh-For some reason, Letter D is setting off signs in my head that say the old Nuclear Submarine ride at DisneyLand... but I'm not sure if that qualifiesa s a dark ride...
Congrats to those of you who played... here are the answers:

1. "Time to be turning around..... if only
you could!" "If you've finally found
your laughing place, how come you're not
laughing?" "So you are looking for a
laughing place eh? We'll show you a laughing
place!"

Splash Mountain at Disneyland and Magic Kingdom. Riders are "threatened" with this as their boats climb the long lift. It culminates with the big splash that the ride is known for.

2. "You're making a big mistake!"

Tomb Raider: The Ride. Laura Croft's voice can be head warning riders of impending doom just before the rider makes it's first upside down revolution.

3. "Lethssssss bounce!"

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh at the Magic Kingdom. Tigger says this to riders and the car begins to "hop" along the way. Disneyland's version does not bounce.

4. "Like, get those fright lights
ready!"

Scooby Doo and the Haunted ________ (Castle, Mansion etc) at PCW, PKI, PKD and PC. Shaggy can be heard on each of the versions preparing riders to start shooting prior to seeing the first target.

5. "When hinges creek in doorless chambers,
and strange and frightening sounds echo though
the halls. Whenever candlights flicker, or the
air is deathly still..."

Disneyland and WDW's Magic Kingdom Haunted Mansion. The "Ghost Host" warns visitors as they enter the mansion with these words. Guests then enter the "stretching room" where there are no windows and no doors. How do you get out? "There's always MY way! AHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

6. "This could be the most dangerous night
of my life... and yours... be
careful!"..."Well, so much for being
careful!"

Universal Islands of Adventure's "The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman" contains this quote. When spidey hops on the hood of your "scoop" vehicle, he makes the first half of this statement. Later in the ride (after things get a little crazy)he says "Well, so much for being carfeul!"

7. "Who's out there?" "No one's
allowed backstage." "Backstage is for
performers only!"

As many of you could recall, this is from the late, great Phantom Theater at Paramount's Kings Island. (1992-2002) The theatre janitor made this exclamation while throwing a main power lever in the backstage area. This caused the "theatre lights" to go out while he flashed his flashlight on your buggy.

8. "You unlock this door with the key of
imagination. Beyond it is another dimension. A
dimension of sound. A dimension of sight. A
dimension of mind. Your moving into a land of
both shadow and substance."

Ahhhhhh, the great Tower of Terror at Disney's MGM Studios. The greatest thrill ride ever created.

9. "Don't be frightened child, they're only
humans!"

This obscure quote belongs to Monster Plantation at Six Flags Over Georgia. A female monster pushing a carriage pacifies her crying monster child.

10. "We want the redhead!" "We
want the redhead!"

Ahoy ye land lovers! This here quote belongs to me Pirates of the Carribean at Disneyland and WDW's Magic Kingdom. At the auction of "beauties" the Pirates seemingly cannot wait to bid on the buxom lady dressed in scarlet.

Thanks for playing!

Shaggy

Oh my Lord. I'm surprised I didn't know that last one, Moosh--I've ridden that Haunted House countless times...but then again, I don't really remember that part. It's been a few years.
Moosh...

LOL,

I'll admit I did know some of them, while others I had no clue. Just saw it this morning when posting my answers though.

I have ridden Mr. Toads at Disneyland, but it was only recently and I only took one trip. So, alas I cannot recall that much about it.

Same goes for Alice in Wonderland, although I could tell from where the quote came.

I also just recently experienced the Dinosaur ride at Knotts. You'll recall I ran into you at Solace... well that was just a bit prior to riding it for the first and only time.

I wanted to use a quote from Knott's Calico Mine ride in my quiz. But since I only took one ride on it, I couldn't quite recall the exact quote they use describing the glory hole. You have to be careful with that one.

You mean there's an actual script for the Calico Mine Train??? I thought it was just an inaudible free-for-all by the driver...with the exception of the words "glory hole", of course.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned this one yet...

"You had to open your eyes!!" (at least I think that's the quote)

Isn't it "You had to look!" ??
I've been on Calico three separate times. I have never once understood a single word of the ride speil. I did gather that the driver was pretty excitable around all that dynamite, though.

Calico is not adlibbed. I can think of three specific parts of the spiel that would be quotable but I'll save those for the next Dark Ride Quote Quiz.
I think someone (else)is spending too much time around that glory hole..... ;)

Can we start another quiz, for dark rides with sound quality so poor as to render them inaudible...I assume the problem is normally the speakers, but sometimes I think it's the attendants or auto-spiels mumbling...

I'll take Monster Plantation for 200, Alex...;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)
