Wolf Kabobs is best in the back especially since they are finishing the track rehab project this year. If not..look out!!!

Are you sure they are finishing the tracking this year, it sounds like you arent sure and I havent read anything.

Oh..don't get me wrong Jess. I liked Shannon a lot, and we got along great. I just couldn't believe she said that when the media asked how they came up with the extra two inversions!! I wish her well at her new position, and Debbie is a great person to fill her shoes. Heather and Rebecca, they're all good people in PR/Marketing.

Wasnt our SLC SUPPOSED to be a 7 inversion custom layout that just never happened? They never changed any of the press realeases keeping the stats at 120ft and 7 inversions?

I doubt Geauga Lake ever had the money to produce a coaster of that size... Serial Thriller was the largest investment at it's time. I guess it is possible that they pulled the plug on the super sized coaster, but I mean if you look at Premiere Parks other investments at the time, it doesn't seem to fit in.
Right about the time that Serial Triller was being completed, is when the announcement came that Premier Parks bought Six Flags. I remeber going to the park for a construction tour with Shannon, as I was setting up an event for GOCC at the time. She tells me the morning I arrive, "Did you hear the news? We bought Six Flags!!" Boy was I floored to hear that.

So I don't think there ever was a custom version planned for the park. I'm sure Vekoma would've produced a custom model for them, but Premier was too busy installing the same version of the ride in most of their parks while buying up all the little guys at the same time. I'm sure they got a deal on a bulk purchase of rides from boomeranges, to SLC's.

Geauga Lake didnt need the money they were owned by Primier by then. If they could buy six flags, then they had the money for a custom layout. But I would agree that corporate probably did buy in bulk.

That's what I'm saying XFlight. Funtime was bought out by Premier Parks in late '95 or in '96. That was the season that Mind Eraser an Mr. Hyde's Really Nasty Fall debuted ('96). So Funtime didn't have anything to do with the park when Serial Thriller was installed in '98.

Jes I was working Casual one of those days someone saw something come off one of those rides... *cough* SUE *cough*. Sure it closed down but that was only for about 5 hours. Rideman actually commentated to me what was going on with the LIMs/magnets and everything they removed/replaced.
I hold a season pass every year to sfwoa. My opinon is, ride the coasters in the morning then head over to the wildlife side. Food sugestion eat at the mandrin house it is a great buffet. Just watch out for the crab legs sometimes they are horrible. Watch a couple shows while you over there ride the starfish its fun. After that head back over to the wildrides part and reride some of the coasters then go back to the wildlife side for the firework spectacular. Parking suggestion if the wildlife side parking lot is open, park there it is a much shorter walk in the evening and easier to get back out on the main rode when the park closes.

Although ST only has 5 inversions, SFWoA was selling shirts back in 2000 that said its stats which stated it had 7 inversions...

Most parks try to make their rides seem more intense than they really are. The exception to this is SFGAdv, where you can buy a shirt that says GASM has 3 inversions.

oops, double loop? One of those two leftover coasters from geauga lake.

Actually there are 5 roller coasters still "left over" for geauga lake. I'd take S:UE over WT any day. I mean WT has the height and speed but that back holding brake is so sweet. Also S:UE goes higher up on the tower compared to WT.

DragsterFreak make sure to ride the Villain in the back seat. It's the best wooden coaster you are going to find in northern ohio. X-flight is overrated and BKF is sweet.

I don't care what anyone says, Villian and The Big Dipper are the only reasons i go to the park anymore when riding.
A couple of corrections - Mr. Hyde debuted at Geauga Lake in 1997, not 1996. Mind Eraser and Grizzly Run were new in 1996.

Some have forgotten that the park's very popular Oktoberfest is held in mid-September and according to the park's website, it has been expanded to include two weekends this year. Oktoberfest was jammed last year.

Great to hear that SUE is getting some extra supports.

X Factor

It was expanded to teo weekends because one of the days in the first weekend has been bought out by a company to be a private event. So to counter this the park expanded to a 2nd weekend.

It's kinda sad... I was thinking of something else that came off... but both of us are right, probably.

Any stories about that ride aren't too hard to believe. Are you held down to any contract that says now that you don't work there you can't talk about it?
Well I'm sure I signed something, maybe not... I heard the second hand, so I don't believe I'll be held responsible for it... I guess it's more of "I'd like to work there again someday" that compells me not to go outright and post it.
You know Jess, If you talked, you wouldn't know. And, since you didn't talk, you must know. ;)

X Factor, I stand corrected. you are right about the Nasty Fall going in seperately, with Grizzly Run being installed the same year as Mind Eraser. I'll blame my ineptness on the later. But my point still stands as those rides were all brought in by Premier Parks after the Funtime era ended. I was thrilled back then, because I wasn't too happy with how Funtime had run the park. And it still has it's problems today. But having the best woodie in the state (and the only CCI) with Villain, and the classic John Miller designed Big Dipper, keeps me going back every year.

I hope that Superman isn't slowed down now that it will receive the same treatment as it's sibling by the lake. I fear it will though, and the hold brake could go away, since that really torques the straight tower. I guess my fears with these Intamin designs is coming true after all. :(
